I tryed it looks good. Jim
Margaret, I found something else that may connect us. As I said in my query, my Alexander Ramsay's first son Archibald eventually moved to Kentucky and died in Nicholas County in 1824. I just found a note from my source that says that Archibald was the matchmaker between William Burke Ramsay and Elizabeth McAnulty. She says that William B. visited Archibald "in a neighboring county" and that's where he met Elizabeth. Since Alexander and William B. lived in Fleming County, it may be that Elizabeth was from Nicholas County. Just thought you would like to know. Dear Margaret, Unfortunately, I do not know a lot about Elizabeth, but here it goes. I've seen an IGI record that says her father was named Joseph, but I've never seen any other place that had her father's name, so I'm pretty skeptical about that. I have been given a list of her siblings, but it's also under suspicion since I don't know where it came from: Joseph, John, James, Sally, and Jane (no particular order). I have Elizabeth as being born 3 Mar 1798, but I don't know where, and she died in Portland Mills, IN, 20 Mar 1847 -- I have seen her grave. So Elizabeth could be related to your James, but since I don't know where that list of kids came from, I can't do much to help prove or disprove it at this point. I have not been able to do as much Kentucky research as I would like. :-( I don't know if that helps you or not. I guess we'll just have to keep looking. http://www.westegg.com/inflation/ An equivalent amount of $.50 in 1822 dollars would be $5.98 in 1998 dollars. However, $.50 in 1998 would have been worth $0.04 in 1822. - -------------------------- I typed in .50 1822 and this is the ans. that I rec'd..... as my 5th gr-grandfather left each of his children .50 in 1822 ..... One afternoon a man came home from work to find total mayhem in his house. His three children were outside, still in their pajamas, playing in the mud, with empty food boxes and wrappers strewn all around the front yard. The door of his wife's car was open, as was the front door to the house. Proceeding into the entry, he found an even bigger mess. A lamp had been knocked over, and the throw rug was wadded against one wall. In the front room the TV was loudly blaring a cartoon channel, and the family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing. In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food was spilled on the counter, dog food was spilled on the floor, a broken glass lay under the table, and a small pile of sand was spread by the back door. He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys and more piles of clothes, looking for his wife. He was worried she may be ill, or that something serious had happened. He found her lounging in the bedroom, still curled in the bed in her pajamas, reading a novel. She looked up at him, smiled, and asked how his day went. He looked at her bewildered and asked, "What happened here today?" She again smiled and answered, "You know every day when you come home from work and ask me what in the world I do all day long?" "Yes," was his incredulous reply. She answered, "Well, today I didn't do it."
