Fellow researchers, My new web site may be of interest to you. I recently posted the entire listing of Bourbon County Marriages--1786-1800, from the Kentucky Historical Society. Many of the families settled beyond the borders of Bourbon County or remained in the new counties formed out of the old Bourbon County lines. Anyhow, the web site address is: http://www.shawhan.com/marriages.html I hope that you may find a treasure there. Enjoy! -- Bob Francis, 1920A Butner St., Ft. To Keith: try the Duncan Tavern in Paris, KY. Oldest business in the town. They have a great library and many historical documents. Bourbon County is in the heart of the bluegrass country with many beautiful driving tours of horse farms and other historical sites. Vickie Pickens

Barbara, Just thought I would drop you an email line and ask how the search for Esau Ritchie was progressing? What has prompted me was that I met the manager of our new bank in Circleville - Margaret Ritchie. Her husband's line goes back to Pike County, Ky. By the way - where does the trail begin for old Esau? Just by chance that I should find him? Is his name really Esau? Good Hunting, Cousin Del....
There is a Francis Payne listed in 1890 census, 34 years old and a Mary Payne 32 as well as a Mary Payne 3 and a Mary E 11 years. Could be the same, married and children. Charlie
Hi to all. I'm new to this list and want to share some information about the families I am researching. My g-grandfather was Andrew Walton b. 1869 d. 6-20-1948 Boubon County, KY. I believe he lived in Carlisle, Nicholas Co., KY. Was married to Florence Cain Walton b. 1874 d. 1-28-1969in Bourbon Co., KY (don't know her parents or where she was born). Had two children: daughter Maxine (Maxie) b. 1894 d. 6-28-1930 married to Samuel W. Hillock Jr; son named Hollis Walton b. 12-7-1914 d. August 1979 Columbus, OH. Believe Andrew Walton had a brother named George Walton who went to either Florida or Georgia. Any info on anyone above is most appreciated. With warmest regards. Vickie Pickens
I'm 10-25 years younger than my 1st cousins, which would make me the dumbist of my generation at identifying pictures,if my own parents hadn't lived so long. 15 years ago,I found on the back of a photo in my wife's great grandfather's albumn,a picture imprinted with a small town where the 4 states unite in sw COLORADO. The past couple of years,I have known great grandfather's sister went there for TB, and hers started a photography studio still open, and her 95 year old son alive. One thing for sure-as long as those pictures are in a drawer, nobody's going to identify them, but scanned, and "attached" to Emails to older relatives, there is a chance they will. Start with a picture of the 8 siblings in 1903, or the 4 siblings in 1945, or the twINS,etc. Our family has ties to Pres Grant's kinsmen, so we see Galena,Ill on the backs of some. My favorite has always been a tintype [?] of "Little Steve" ,the black todler Capt Will Ely's company found tied in a gunny sack hanging from a tree-left by retreating Rebel forces. "Little Steve" became the mascot of Capt Will Ely's company. Ely brought him home to his married brother, and Steve's trunk is likely still in my attic. Anyway, Little Steve had a growth in his neck-goiter,or injury from the hanging?. He died after a few years in Ohio. I found a lot of old envelopes my grandmother saved.Letters gone, but stamps ,or cork cancels attached. Some to tiny general store post offices. And I preserved them, except I lost the best one. One postmarked Augusta,Ga, addressed to Stephen Galbraith, care of Capt Will Ely,Bantam,Ohio. Little Steve's picture can be identified in the albumn as the only black boy with a big goiter. I got a copy this week of a 1901 era Fagley reunion here at Bethel, with the people identified. 1 blonde looked very familar. Belle Ely Fagaly. My team mate on many sport teams, Larry Murray's mother has very dark hair, but otherwise she looks like her aunt Belle Ely Fagaly. . We work on identifying and getting on new black and white negatives, a portion of our old Fagley photos. Some of my cousins are "into " photography. Anyway, thru reunions, and other family meetings, we can identify many. But, last month,a 2nd cousin who has not been attending our reunions, brought me several photos. 2nd cousin claims he doen't know much family history, but he does, because, a batcholar,he spent his life near his grandparents til they were past 90,and then cared for his mother til she was 93. Even his great grandmother was 94. So,60+ of his years were around his elders- same house,or 2nd house on same farm. He brought photo's already identified on the back. They are now 1500 miles west, in the photo lab,of a cousin, getting reprinted, and 'blown up. On Sun, 23 Jan 2000 14:21:56 -0500 "charles r. carter" <cartercr@rma.edu> writes: > How true!
