    1. Re: [KYNELSON-L] re: Nelson Co Processioners Book-1779
    2. Yes, Mary, this Processioners' Book was an interesting contribution. I trust that the person who reads your posting will realize that a great, great part of this does not apply to present-day Nelson Co. (The reader should recall also that although the records were stored and remained in Nelson Co., that these land office records on these dates concerned old Jefferson Co. - including present-day Nelson.) At the extreme it mentions Panther Creek, which probably would be today somewhere around Daviess Co. Floyd's Fork would be in the Louisville area. Cartwright's is probably in Washington Co. Some of the Daviess Co. land, by the way, involves George Mason of Fairfax Co., Va., whom some credit with the inclusion of the Bill of Rights in the Constitution. The user of these records should also keep in mind that a great portion of the people mentioned never came to Kentucky, and they sold their land to someone else. I noticed one entry that said it was 30 miles from Simpson Creek to Harrodsburg. I believe the pioneer who wrote that was just a little off on his distances. I hope all this information will be published some day. Bob This is another matter that shows the value of learning the streams in a given area.
