Thanks, Virginia. I assumed you were quoting from the source. For your info. and anybody else's, Mercer Co. (Harrodsburg) has excellent records. Just one exception, in the 19th century when they started requiring on the marriage bonds various kinds of additional information, the clerks NEVER put it in. Adjoining Anderson Co. didn't preserve its records too well, but they were great about putting on that info. on the marriage bonds. Bob
Bob, Thank you, it helps to know what is available at the local level. That is the place (the local level)I most enjoy doing research. It is most unfortunate that all data was not recorded. However, I contacted a county (in another state) for marriage information from the 1920s and was informed the marriage applications were disposed of after a period of time, so were not available. I asked if this was the current practice and the clerk informed me yes they currently dispose of applications after a period of time. So even today, when genealogy is a very big interest for many folks, records are still being lost to future researchers. Regards, Virginia
