    3. The part of the statement below that Harrodsburg was designated as county seat of Fincastle County is apparently in error because the county court of Fincastle was held at the lead mines in what is now Wythe co. Va. The lead mines were located near Fort Chiswell along the New River. If anyone wants to know the location further, Interstate 77 from Wytheville, Va. toward Charlotte NC crosses New River at the old shot tower where the lead from the mines was used to make shot. The lead mine was on the NW side of New River at Austinville, of course there were other mines also. You can see a picture of the Shot Tower on my website. Click on "Scenes of Interest" and follow the page links. http://hearlshill.freeservers.com/index.html >When the French and Indian War (Seven Years War) ended, the Ohio River was >designated as the boundary between settlers and native inhabitants. >Kentucky was under the jurisdiction of Augusta County, Virginia. Fincastle >County, Virginia, was organized in 1772 to include all of present-day >Kentucky with Harrodsburg designated the county seat.< G. Lee Hearl Authentic Appalachian Storyteller Abingdon, Va.

    3. For those of you who need to know when the counties of Virginia were formed and the parent counties, I have a VA. County Evolution Chart which you are welcome to print and use. It includes all counties formed under VA jurisdiction. Some early counties of Kentucky. Go to this site and click on VA County Chart on upper left of page. Note: It prints several pages, a dozen or more. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~harrelld I hope this helps. G. Lee Hearl Authentic Appalachian Storyteller Abingdon, Va.

    3. Thank you for the correction to 'Ancestry's RedBook'; it pays to have multiple sources of data available. I have several of Dr. Schweitzer's books, but not the one on Virginia. Regards, Virginia
