    3. Dear Dee and all on the list, Dee--Thank you so much for letting us know about Bob. It is a great loss for all who have Nelson County family/ancestors and those of us who also knew Bob as a friend even though we are far away. I got my first e-mail from Bob on 8/30/2000 when he answered a query I had on Genforum about my HOBBS gggrandfather. Bob was a very distant HOBBS cousin of mine and he gave me all kinds of leads on my ancestors--and not just HOBBS--when I sent him some of my tree. I have corresponded with him on and off since then as many of you have. He told me about his illness at the end of March and the prognosis sounded optimistic although it was a serious illness. We hadn't written since then as I was dealing with a family illness and he sounded like things were going well. We always wrote to each other during the NCAA Basketball Tournament in March because he was a devoted Kentucky fan having been the team manager on the Adolph Rupp coached team that won the national championship in the early '50's. I am a devoted Duke fan and he wrote to me anyway! Just shows you what kind of person he was! What an irreplaceable loss for us all. Ginny Durham, NC
