I have looked a little bit at the Talbotts, although I haven't been satisfied with any versions of their pre-Kentucky times. The ones left in Nelson Co. are Catholic, but I'm not quite so sure about their religion in the early days. Sarah Cotton, mother of Littleton/Lyttleton was not a Catholic. I see that three of the sons have given names that are actually surnames. This is rather un-Catholic. There was a Daniel Talbott in Fairfax Co., Va., where the Cottons lived, but I have not been able to connect him with the Daniel of Nelson Co. There is a family tradition among those in Nelson Co. that their ancestors came from Maryland. Among the heirs of William, supposed father of Daniel of Nelson was a son Hendley. There was a family by this name in Charles Co., Md., so the family tradition could have some basis. I find no basis for connecting the Nelson Co. Talbotts with the one in Bourbon Co. who married a Brent, who was a sister of a Porter wife. I can find no record of a Talbott-Pottinger marriage in Nelson Co. at any time. If there was indeed such a marriage, it must have occurred in another county. I am not really a Talbott researcher. Bob Moore
