Swayze was married on March 30, 1836 in Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana to Charlotte Todd, daughter of David Low Todd and Sally Lewis. David L. "D. L." Todd was a witness to the February 27, 1810 wedding in Opelousas St. Landry Parish, Louisiana marriage of my Nelson County, Kaintuck 4th great grandfather, John Close, to Euphrosine Barre' of Louisiana.
