Mary b ca 1782 Berkeley Co, Va. 1810 Cen Nelson Co lists Samuel Porter 1820 Cen lists Mary Porter 1830 Cen lists Mary Porter no listing 1840, 1850, 1860 in Nelson Co. (so says authors of "Figg Leaves". Mary Porter along with her sons John, James, Martin Thomas (wife Deborah Porter) sells the land to LEO WIMSATT in 1830-- 25 acres & bounded by land of Roberts Hulls. (Leo Wimsatt from the SMC, MD Wimsatts & connected to the Nicholas Mills Jr genealogy). Now, I have to ask WHERE did John Figg Sr get the 275 acres??? The authors of "Figg Leaves" does not say. But in 1814 John sold land to Joseph Essex (Jr, m Milly Figg-my 3rd GGpts) and in 1820 he sold 20 acres to Samuel MILLER and Betsey for 1.00. Both deeds recorded in Deed Book 9, Nelson Co, Ky. Could the 297 acres have been military warrent land??? John Sr would have been old enough to have served in the Rev War & perhaps got land as a result???????? Can anyone help?????
