Kentucky Standard Obituaries Robert Payne Moore, 75 Sunday, May 29, 2005 Lexington Robert Payne Moore, 75, Lexington, died Friday, May 27, 2005. He was born in Nelson County and maintained a life-long interest in genealogy. He graduated from Bloomfield High School and the University of Kentucky. His graduate work included a Masters of Russian Linguistics from Harvard, a PhD at Cornel University and some work at Syracuse University. He served active and reserve duty in the U.S. Air Force where he received the rank of lieutenant colonel. His civilian career included teaching Russian at the University of Kentucky and Illinois State University. He also worked at the Washington, D.C. office of the Department of Defense where Soviet awareness was his specialty. He was a member of the Nelson County and Kentucky genealogical societies and the Civil War Roundtable. He was raised in Bloomfield Christian Church and later became a member of Crestwood Christian Church, Lexington. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Pat Carter Moore. A private burial will be held at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
