Would think that David May of early Hardin Co; had a wife Mary (per will data); would look for William May (of Hardin) as a son/o David. A William May bought an awfully lot of land in very early Nelson Co (check the tithables for him)-- a William May also in Hardin Co (you said your David b ca 180? Hardin Co). Check the 1810 Cen of Hardin--may give you the f/o your David???? Jerry I guess you can tell from the discussion today that the Filson Club published early marriages. As far as finding them on line, I have never heard of anything being available. However, that doesn't prove that there isn't. Bob

Thanks, Mary. The first page starts with the mg. in 1781 of Samuel Wells and Mary Spear. It ends with the mg. of Alex. Breckenridge and Jenny Floyd 1784/1785. I have only through page 12 (1791), the thought being that marriages after that point that would relate to Nelson Co. families would be kind of sp otty. I find relative few marriages of interest in what I do have. I wonder if there were really that few marriages in those first five years before Nelson was formed. I would bet that a lot of records were lost. More frustrating to me is the inability to locate any Jefferson Co. deeds other than ones that have to do with town lots in Louisville. I think Mr. and Mrs. Michael Cooke sort of implied that they couldn't find any such book(s) for the early period. Bob

Bob, My source is the Jefferson Co Mgs 1781-July 1826, The Filson Club, 1980. The 1st book of 4 published by The Filson Club. Don't know what names you have on the list you have-- If you could send to me-- will check for accuracy(?).
