    2. Dottie Himes
    3. Hello Bob, We are home again from Wichita Falls, TX visiting with daughters and friends It was a good time. Our daughter, Teresa's husband interviewed with the Clinic opening for a child adolescent psychiatrist and they should know soon if they are interested. We used to live there with Teresa and it is a nice town. Arriving home I got a letter from Robert C. Brent with information on Hugh Brent and pages printed in a book. It updated some information that I have on the Brent family. I need to write to him and find out what book this came from. The pages are very dim, and I will be typing it over. I do not know if you would be interested in a copy after I get it typed. It did not open any new doors but confirmed some information and added some. Hope your Easter was a good one too. Finally it is beginning to get warm. Your cousin Dottie Dottie Himes Lewisport, KY 42351 [email protected] I love my Family, Genealogy is Addictive but Fun: SURNAMES: Heim, Himes, Ahlers, Shroyer, Swadener /Burch, Clements, Hagan, Hutchins, Porter /Hayden, Mulligan,Young, and many more.

    2. Have been to the old Maple Grove Cem. & got a personal tour of the downstairs of the Sam'l Merrifield House (that was before it was designated a Historical site). IF I remember right. As you turn out of the drive of Dr Sam's house--almost immediately there is a drive on the right that goes into Old Maple Grove Cem. The Merrifield's are't buried too far apart. Rachael has a metal plate over her gravesite & is in the ground. Don't remember finding Alex'r's grave, tho. Dr Sam has a very large, tall tombstone. My Henrietta Johnson Merrifield is at St Catherine's at New Haven along with her mother Ellen (Eleanor Dawson), w/o George Johnson (d/o John Dawson and Mary Hagan. Don't know where John & Mary is at-- imagine IF I had all the cem books of Nelson Co & IF they have gravestones-- I could find them!!! What a coupe that would be!!!! Was so estatic when I found Ellen/Eleanor a year or so ago!!! Suppose George is there also but no tombstone/record to date. His probate 1835. Thank you for the information on the books. Will check it all out while I am there, of course. Never did get your book but that is another purchase I plan to make!!! Would love some later deeds/ wills/etc. That is the idea for microfilms-- would love to transcribe them!!! That would be one way I could get them!!! 2. The so-called Old Bloomfield Cem. is really just the old part of Maple Grove. It is just a little out of downtown (what isn't?) on the road to Taylorsville (Ky. 55). On the right slightly past the Christian Ch. The cemetery isn't all that big. The old part is on the right, so as you're going up the drive take the right fork. I can't tell you exactly where all the Merrifield graves are, but they're all in the old cem., and there aren't that many graves to search among. If you want a touch of me, when you're at the only stop light in town and you've come from Bardstown, the building (with a very large porch in the front) on the near left corner housed my father's grocery store. On the far side of the light you'll see the drug store and old PO, and on the near right is a Chevron station, so there's no mistaking the store building. I take it you've seen the old Merrfield farm that's now the property of Jerry and Linda Bruckheimer. It also is on Ky. 55 at the very edge of town toward Taylorsville. The Nelson Co. Gen. Roundtable has its office in the basement of the county library in Bardstown. I think you can purchase their publications from the library people if none of the NCGR people are there. Do you have their web site so that you can find their publications list? It's [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) . The library has some microfilms, but I imagine you'd find more at the historical society in Frankfort. Did you ever buy my book? Dr. Merrifield tells an awful lot about his family in it. If the Roundtable doesn't list its publications, let me know and I'll summarize them for you. Bob

    2. Thank you, Bob, for clarifying this for me!!! I have both the 27 Jul 1799 & 4 Dec 1788 birth dates & both death dates. I plan to go to Ky next week, providing I can get away!!! Know where they all are buried so could check myself!!! Have pictures of the stones but don't know where they are & will have to do them again, I guess!!! How would I get some of the books of N.C. Gen. while I am in Ky??? Would love to have more than what I have!!! Also--how does one buy microfilm of the records that haven't been published??? SO-O many I am looking for in that area of Ky--find it is easier to have books (and film, IF I can find it!!). 2. Glad to, Mary. This is what the cem. book says on p. 147 of vol. 1: Merrifield, S.B., Dr. b. 4 Dec. 1788, d. 18 Aug. 1869 I think I see your problem. I decided I'd look at what Betty Crume had in her list done quite a few years ago. She has Dr. S.B. Merrifield, b. 27 July 1799, d. 1 June 1887 The cemetery book has those dates for Frances, Dr. M.'s wife. It appears to me that Crume does not list Frances, so perhaps she collapsed the dates. I'll be away for a while, but I'm thinking of going to Bardstown fairly soon. Keep reminding me and I'll go check the stone for myself. Or maybe there's somebody in Bloomfield who's on this list who can do it. Bob Moore

    1. Re: [KYNELSON-L] Howard Family
    2. I've been listening to the Howard famiily conversations with great interest. My gg grandfather is Joseph Edward (JE) Howard born about 1834 in Nelson County. He married Sarah M. (Rena) Keenes/Keener 7 Mar 1854 and died in 1923. I've come up to a brick wall with them both, any help would be appreciated. Their son, William J. Howard b. in 1863 in Breckinridge County married Nannie Belle Dowell in 1888. William d. in 1938 in California while visiting his daughter, my grandmother. I'd love to be able to connect to some of the Howards discussed here. Thanks for any help, Carolin in Oregon

    2. Cindy, Have you ever gotten the m record from Perry Co, In?? That might give you some information. I am trying to think who is still around who is a descendant of Jesse Davis. One person I can think of in Chaplin is Marilyn Pulliam. but would you write to me at [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) so we can discuss this off the rootsweb site. I was, by the way, born in Chaplin and grew up in Bloomfield. I share Milton ancestry with some of the Davises. Thanks for your kind words about the book. Bob

    2. None of that, of course, would be in the Filson Club book on JEFFERSON Co. marriages. The Nelson Co. marriages from 1785 through 1899 have been published. I do not know what the situation is in Marion Co. The county was formed in the 1830s, but there was a fire there in the 1860s, and I don't know whether anything from that period survived the fire.
