    3. Greetings from overly sunny Arizona! Does any of this ring a bell? My 4ggfather started out in life as Wilson Flick of Bullitt co, KY. He was married under that name twice; first to Julia Ann Spencer on March 16, 1837 and secondly to Rebecca Shaw in 1844. Both marriages took place in Bullitt county, KY. He appears in the 1850 census however as Wilson Flake (spelling always seems to be optional in the census); but appears in the 1860 census as Wilson Hatfield. Wilson Hatfield does not appear with his family in the 1870 census. On the same date of Wilson Hatfield's first marriage, March 16, 1837, a Rebecca Spencer married John Mullican also in Bullitt county. Additional Flick /Flake marriages in Bullitt Co KY include: Catherine Flick to Charles Drake on 21 October 1819 Mary Ann Flick to Alfred Myers on 30 November 1834 Catherine Flick to James Bolton on 20 December 1836 Elizabeth Flake to William Bolton on 6 February 1846 Andrew Jackson Flick to Sarah Ann Graham on 5 April 1846 Can anyone help me identify and/or relate any of these persons? Thank all of you for your attention, Elizabeth in Phoenix

    1. Re: [KYNELSON-L] PAT CRAVEN
    2. Dee, Sorry to hear about Pat. I know all the hard work she did in the old records at the Court House basement. They were her "baby" and she really didn't like to share them with anyone. She kept a very close eye on anyone using them. I don't think anyone knew those records like she did!!! Those of us who met her deffinately will not forget her!!! I, too, dearly love the old records & would hate to see something happen to them!!! In the years of using them--have come to the relization that we can actually damage the records by handling them. One doesn't realize what the oils from your hands can do to the old records. Pat just got there way before I did!!! KY is so open & people gets to go in and search through the old records at will. They don't know how lucky they are!!! Why destroy them??? Such a thing ISN'T possible in IL-you can work with the indexes but the Clerks get the old will records for you to see. Not you doing it yourself like in KY. Some of the Cos. in IN you can't even get records out of. There is positives to both type of systems. In IL, you don't have to worry about things not being there. I got ahold of a very old will here in IL & felt guilty for handling it!!! The paper was very brittle & pieces fell off!!! I gave it back real QUICK!!! The last thing I want to do is to be a party to destroying records-- that is WHY it is so important to transcribe the old records into a form that is nicer for someone to use than the originals!! Once they are gone-- they can never be replaced!!! Where's the microfilm-IF you can get a good copy?????
