Willilam Elgin Davis' mother was Martha Hogan born 8 July 1809 and died 1886. She was the daughter of John Hogan. in HISTORY OF ROVER AND THE 10TH DISTRICT OF BEDFORD COUNTY, TENNESSEE published May 1, 1999 page 196 is a photo of first home of Thomas W. Davis in the 10th district. there is also one of Thomas W. and Martha Hogan Davis. about four or five pages of information and photos of the Davis family. I have found no connection between this Davis family and Jefferson Davis--there is a monument at Fairview, Ky. (Christian County) where Jefferson Davis was born. the Jefferson Davis memorial park was dedicated in 1908. Work on the monument began in 1917, was at a stand still during World War I, It was finished and dedicated in June 1924. the electric elevator was dedicated in May 1929. It was closed for awhile, but I think it is open again to the public.
