There is a LOT of data on the Rhoads family. It will take several postings to complete it. January 1800 Court Records Andrew Hunsaker was surveying a road from Smith's Ferry to Greenville. The road passed Jacob's Creek, thence to mouth of Mud River, to mouth of rocky Creek then to Solomon Penrod's, thence to Daniel Rhoads. Another road was being viewed from Billing's Ford on Mud River to Greenville. The viewers included Jacob Studebaker, Daniel Rhoads Sr., William Patton and Thomas Biggerstaff. December 1800 Court Records Elizabeth Rhoads, widow and executrix of the will of Joseph Rhoads, was summoned to court to give counter security for her executorship. Henry Rhoads, orphan of Joseph and being over 14, chose Henry Keith as his guardian. Matthew Adams was the security for Keith. Solomon Rhoads, William Smith and Henry Uncell record their stock marks. George Hunsaker was appointed guardian to John and Elizabeth Rhoads, orphans of Joseph Rhoads, deceased. Samuel Fuller furnished the bond. Court approved Andrew Hunsaker as guardian to Hannah Rhoads, orphan of Joseph Rhoads, deceased. Gilbert Vaught was appointed the guardian of Daniel and Catherine Rhoads, orphans of Joseph Rhoads, deceased. (From the above records, it seems that Joseph Rhoads left children, namely, Henry, John Elizabeth, Hannah Daniel and Catherine.) [Manley's comments] A record of 1801 names daughter Rachel, also. May 1811 Court Records Parmenius Redman was made deputy to Sheriff Solomon Rhoads Five Rhoads families, all formerly from Muhlenberg, were in Edgar Co., Il. The oldest member was Jacob Rhoads, age 62, and his wife, Elizabeth, who was formerly Elizabeth Ripple, native of PA, prior to removing to Muhlenberg. the other Rhoads families censured were perhaps son of this Jacob. They were Alney McLean Rhoads, wife Susannah and 5 children. The Malona family in Edgar Co., IL, was closely associated with the Rhoads. Daniel (or David) Rhoads was censused with wife, Sarah A. E., and 3 children. Daniel and David were written one over the other so I cannot state which was correct [Manley's comment]. Newman Rhoads, wife Rachel, and 5 children and Newman's mother, age 76, a native of Botetourt Court, VA. George Rhoads and his wife, Sarah A., both natives of Muhlenberg, were censused with 4 children. Vacant land acquired in 1850 B. W. Rhoads bought three acres for 4.5 cents
