Just a word of warning, take the Rothert book with a grain of salt and double check everything. Remember this is a secondary source at best. For example: He recounts a story about Christian Gish being killed by a team of horses in the Cumberland mountains when the family was traveling to Muhlenberg County. However further research finds his will probated several years later in the same county. It even mentions his wife Barbara and names the children, so I am sure it is the same Christian Gish. He also says that the Kittinger's who came to Muhlenberg were the children of Jacob of Switzerland. Kittinger's are my direct line. The Kittinger's in Muhlenberg were the children of Rudolph, and the grand children of Jacob of Switzerland. By all means read the book, there is good information in it. But double check everything with primary sources before you pass it on as gospel. Good hunting, Laura
