Attention: Sherry Petersen I've check all my Muhlenberg County books and cannot find any reference to a Nathan Hurt. There were no Hurts in the 1840 and 1850 censuses (I understand your family moved before 1850). There were no Hurt wills, nor cemetery records for Hurts during the period of time you seek. There were very few later even. There were two Hurt grooms in the Marriage Records 1802-1904 06 Feb 1836 - Lewis Hurt m. Temperance Johnson 24 Oct 1850 Francis Asbury Hurt m. Irene Joines In an early Muhlenberg County deed I found: DB 1 & 2, p. 222. 07 Sep 1807 Deed where land was sold by Thomas Littlepage and Sally (Hurt) Littlepage. Land belonged to Moses Hurt, deceased. Moses' wife was Elizabeth Hurt, widow, and their children were all daughters: Jane, Nannie, Rhoda and Sallie who had married Thomas Littlepage. Still, understanding your family had left by 1850, I checked the 1850 censuses for Butler, Ohio and Logan counties just to see what Hurts I could find. No Hurts in Butler and Ohio counties. In Logan there was Sarah Hurt 65 and apparently her children: Thomas Minor 23; Rolinda 30; Charles P. 20; and Mary F. 10, perhaps a grandchild. Also in Logan was B.F. Hurt 27 and wife Lucy W. 33 with three small children. You (or perhaps someone would check for you) need to check the 1840 Kentucky Census Index to see if you can find Nathan listed. Also, there were a lot of Hunts in Muhlenberg County and we're all aware of how difficult old handwriting is to read. Hunt and Hurt could easily be mistaken for the other. Sorry I could not help.
