I know what you mean about data being put on cd's and offered for sale. I learned something from experience about a couple of people I think were doing just that....Tell your listers...be leery about giving out a lot of info first time round... and if the other person seems more interested in what YOU have to tell them, instead of helping you, be more leery. This has happened on one of the famly names I am trying to research...and the control of the "data" makes it very hard to find out anything from anyone because all of the ones who "know" anything are on that data list and they don't seem to want to help the lowly "researcher" like me. Altho they have a surname mail list, it's useless to ask for any help on it... I never see any replies much to anyone who does list for help....which leads me to believe that it is all controlled by the list owner, or who ever...administrator? Just my experience and observation. To me, it ruins the fun of genealogy and me with only a webtv and not a computer, cd's are of no value to me. Take care and GOD BLESS, Lou
