History of the Wickliffe, Waters, Harden and Logan Families in Kentucky, an Unfinished Family History by John D. Wickliffe (1838-1923). Privately printed by Henry R. He came to Kentucky and located lands in Muhlenberg County where he died in the early 1850's. . . ." Turner offered no proof of this. Kentucky Ancestor, Vol. 25, No. 1, 1989: Moses Wickliffe. b. 14 Aug 1779, Prince William County, VA s/o Aaron Wickliffe (s/o Susan Davis and Benjamin Wickliffe; d. Contributed by Descendant: Kathryn Cundiff Carter, f269 North Court Street, Irvine, KY 40336. (This material was the work of Ms. Carter. There was no proof offered.) Lastly, Muhlenberg County KY Genealogical Society's publication The Heritage has an article on Moses Wickliffe (Vol. 13, No. 4, 1991, p. 41.) "Col. Moss Wickliffe was born in Prince William Co VA, 14 Aug 1779. He was a son of Revolutionary War soldier Aaron Wickliffe and his wife Mary Kincheloe Wickliffe . . . ." This is back as far as I have resources. The above data do NOT prove that Aaron Wickliffe was the father of Moses. But, apparently three people did find some indication or proof enough to put it into print. Plus the data you have in your Bible record. So it's a good place to work. Incidentally, have you thought of posting your Bible record online for the benefit of others. Even though you may have questions about it ?? We all need "beginning places." If you have more questions concerning Muhlenberg County people/events, I'll be glad to try to answer. Good luck in your search. Dorann A very important PS - The death of Moses Wickliffe is recorded in the very old Muhlenberg County Vital Statistics (from a filmstrip of the Kentucky Historical Society listing deaths by county) Death of Moses Wickliffe, age 75, b. VA. FATHER AARON WICKLIFFE. That is the proof we need as to who his father was.
