Hi, again! I've gotten quite a few replies to the postings I did yesterday. I have to say the people on this list are the NICEST I've met in a long time. I really appreciate your speedy replies and all the help. Here's the information I have so far on the families I'm looking for. I've only known about the KY connection for a few weeks. James and Eliza Ann Crockett Pannell were in the 1860 census in S.Carrolton living with Eliza's father, William Crockett age 81. They had a daughter, Mary E., who married an Archibald Yontz and then Alan Capps. When Mary C. divorced A.Yontz, Eliza Ann Pannell gave a deposition and stated that she lived in Central City (1882). I have a copy of the deposition sent by another researchers. I think her hubby, James, died in the 1860's and she was probably living with one of her other children. The Pannell family was supposed to have been in the funeral business in Greenville. James and Eliza Pannell also had daughters, Martha C.b.1852 and Ann E. b.1858 and a son,Joseph Crockett b. 1849. Martha C. m. Joseph Ross. They had a daughter, Eda Ann Ross b.1888, who married A.W. Mahan who died 11/1945. They lived most of their lives in Central City. Also had some info that this family is related to John Stroud and Central City was once Stroud. I've heard there are some Pannells buried in Fairmont Cemetery in Central City. I'm wondering if Eliza Ann died in Central City and other Pannells were buried there or some of her children's families. Also am wondering if William Crockett died in the area since he was 81 in the 1860 census. I'm not sure how to go about getting the information I need. KY Archives searches are $12.00 nonrefundable (a bit higher than most states). They don't have death records as far back as I need to go. Don't know about a will for William Crockett that early either or how to go about looking for info on the funeral home in Central City or the Fairmont Cemetery. The County volunteers didn't have Eliza/William listed in cemeteries. William Crockett (a.k.a."Slick Willie") was my g.g.g.grandfather. I found out about the daughter, Eliza Ann Crockett Pannell b. 1812, in Aug./Sept. from a newly found cousin who had a family Bible. Willie m. Mary Ann Fleshart on 11/14/1811 in Knoxville, TN. Between my father (d.1985) and myself, we've been looking for Willie since the 1960's. What a thrill to find him in KY! There was also a William Crockett living with the John and Nancy Coffman family in Todd Co. in 1850 and possibly a connection to a Powell family since there was an Elizabeth Pannell, age 17, living with them. That's all I have and am hoping to find out enough to identify which William Crockett mine was and who his parents were. I know he was orginally from VA. Also want to know more about the rest of my family. I've found a new Pannell cousin who would like to know about Mary Pannell Yontz Capps. Thanks again for all your help. Donna

Surname: Mitchell, Nanny, Shelton, Beasley, Latham, Williams My Great Grandfather was Elias M. Mitchell. Elias was born on Nov. 8,1857 and died April 6. 1919 and was married to Alice Jane Latham. My brick wall is his father, Peter C. Mitchell. In the 1860 Muhlenberg census it shows, Peter C. Mitchell, 31 years old, married to Mary E. with children, Nancy E. 5 years old and Elias M. 2 years old. In the 1870 Muhlenberg Kentucky census it shows C.T. (Calvin Thomas I think)Mitchel,55 years old, married to May E.(mary ?) with children Nancy E. 14 years old, Elias M. 12 years old and Missouri E. 6 years old. I believe that sometime in the early 1860s Peter died and Mary E. Nanny married another Mitchell by the name of Calvin T. Mitchel and that they had a daughter by the name of Missouri E. Mitchell. I need a death date for Peter or a marriage date for Calvin and Mary or something to prove that my theory is right. Anything that you could give me would be appreciated. Folks, concerning the recent additions of the Kentucky marriage and death index at Rootsweb, I wanted to remind you of the "Post-Ems" feature they offer. How it works: Find an ancestor, click "add Post-em". Input your name and e-mail address, leave a short message (or a long one if you wish) Folks who are researching the same person will have a way to contact you. This feature requires you to add a password so you may go back later and change the message or e-mail address if needed. If you don't know about the new databases, go to http://userdb.rootsweb.com/ky/death/search.cgi for the death index....and http://userdb.rootsweb.com/ky/marriage/search.cgi for the marriage index.
