    3. Fran Nope but probably a relative. My James was born in PA around 1790 and his son Lewis Griffith was born in Ponds Creek KY in 1815. I think there you will find a connection. Celie is a name used in the next generation. I think you will also take them back to Wales and to the area of England referred to as the Black Country. James marries Jane Rose daughter of Lenox Rose. This marriage is in York County PA. You should check there too. Wanda Fran Salyers wrote: > Hello, friends. 3. Hello, friends. As long as we're discussing Griffiths, I'll add my Griffiths to the conversation. If my research is correct, one of my gg grandfathers is James Griffith, born abt 1815 in Muhlenberg County. Wanda, could we be talking about the same James Griffith -- or perhaps a father or son? I've become tangled in my tracking, since there are several James Griffiths in the county in the first half of the 1800s. Apparently, "my" James was a coal miner who married Mary Williams (born in Muhlenberg County abt 1832) on 8 Apr 1853. Because of the age difference, it's possible that Mary was James' second wife. The census records for James and Mary show four children in the household: Jane, Eliza, a boy (name unknown) and Rebecca (born 24 Dec. 1866, died 10 Sep 1942). Rebecca married William T. DAVIS (born 16 Dec. 1857 in Tennessee) on 26 Sep 1886 at Paradise in Muhlenberg County. They had seven children: Arthur and Celie (twins born and died 17 Apr 1889) Raymond Oscar (called "Shine") born 8 Jun 1892 died 7 Aug 1969 Chloe Darling born 20 May 1894 died 11 Jul 1971 (my grandmother -- married Oscar P. Nelson born 2 Sep 1891 died 31 Jul 1962)) Truman "Pat" born 17 Mar 1896 Bertha born 24 Oct 1898 Mary Belle born and died 7 Oct 1904 I would very much like to hear from anyone who is connected to any of these people. I would especially like to know more about the ancestors of James Griffith and Mary Williams. 1. Epley maiden name
    2. D Zumparelli
    3. I am looking for descendants of Mary Ann Epley Reed but not sure of the surname spelling of Reed and I don't have a husband's first name. She was born about 1907 in Logan County and her parents were Elishie Monroe Epley and Blanch Bennison. Her last known location was in 1972 in Bremen. Maybe someone can help me shed some light on this descendancy. Please email me if skilfulaxe@myway.com if you can help. Thank you. _______________________________________________ No banners. 2. Ernest Scott
    3. Greetings to all Muhlenberg researchers. I was registered with this excellent and generous site in 2004, but have been idle as to genealogy for almost a year due to health problems. I have recently re-subscribed and wish to introduce myself again. I am descended from the family of James H. Scott (Rothert, page 405), who had a farm near Bremen from approximately 1820, on which property is the Scott Cemetery. I will appreciate hearing from anyone who has information--or collateral connections--about James H. Scott and his wife Virginia Kennerly Scott, of Hartford, Kentucky (where James and Virginia were married as he trekked west from Virginia), and their son Nathan Scott, born on the farm in Muhlenberg, who was named for our family's first immigrant to America (from Antrim, Ireland, to Roanoke, Virginia, 1768). 3. Hi Phoebe, I love making connections like this. I have quite a bit of information about James and Susanna Sparks McKinney and would be happy to share it with you. Most of my information came from primary record sources and some came from other researchers over the years. If you'd like, I can send you an MS Word document that contains a lot of information along with a listing of my sources and we can go from there. If you don't mind a couple of personal questions - what is your line back to James? Where were you born and raised? As I noted in my previous email, I am related through the marriage of William Collier to Nancy Louisa McKinney, daughter of James and Susanna. I was born and raised in Paducah, McCracken County, KY. 3. Hello, My third great grandparents, William and Louisa McKinney Collier, named one of their children John Rice Collier. William and Louisa were married and lived in McCracken County, KY, but census and other records show that Louisa's family lived in Muhlenberg County before coming to McCracken. Louisa's father James McKinney was enumerated in the 1820 census living in Greenville, Muhlenberg County. He was living near Claiborne Rice, Samuel Rice, and James Rice. I know there was also a John E. Rice who married Jane Martin in 1826 in Muhlenberg County. I'm trying to find out what connection my Collier and McKinney ancestors would have had to the Rice families that would have caused them to name my second great grandfather John Rice Collier. Any help would be much appreciated. Best regards, Mark A. Collier
