    2. Janette, I don't know of your GOSSETT's. They are the right age to be either brothers or cousins of my husband's grandfather, Ed (John William Edward) GOSSETT. I only have Ed for a child of Elijah, so I don't know anything about his other children (although I would like to). I will keep the information you have provided and hopefully some day it will fit together. Thanks so much for your response. I have found that the Muhlenberg list is really the best one for learning things. I subscribe to a Pennsylvania one for my family and it's nowhere near as informative as this one is. Have a good day and thanks again! Joyce Thomas Gossett

    3. Anyone who is interested in the book by Paul Camplin can forward me their address, and I can contact him to send you the book. They are being stored at my place of work, and my boss is his daughter-in-law, so I know there are still several available. He is delighted to hear from all of us genealogy nuts! I've spotted a few mis-statements (such as referring to one of my ancestors as Jesse Williams instead of his correct name, Jesse Wilkins), but it's full of interesting info. Mr. Camplin will even sign the book if you request it. It's my understanding that the price is $28.95 plus $1.95 for shipping -- but you may want to check on that. So any of you folks in Muhlenberg County happen to know for sure? Order or inquire: Mr. Paul Camplin PO Box 303 Greenville, Kentucky 42345 Come to think about it, you might check for "Early Settlers" online at Ye Olde Genealogie Shoppe (www.yogs.com or e-mail yogs@iquest.net). Unfortunately, the names you listed aren't familiar to me -- but I don't go back very far on my Davis line yet. Always looking to move farther back in the generations, but no luck yet. Here's what I know about "my" Davis line, starting with my father's mother: Chloe Darling Davis, b. 20 May 1894, d. 11 July 1971. Her parents William T. Davis (b. 1857 Tennessee?; d. 1931 Muhlenberg County, Ky.) and Rebecca Griffith (native of Muhlenberg). They married 26 Sep 1886 in Muhlenberg. Seven children: Arthur and Celie (twins who died at birth), Raymond Oscar (called "Shine" - 1892-1969), Chloe (see above), Truman "Pat" (1896-??), Bertha (1898-1976), Mary Belle (b. & d. 7 Oct 1904). William T.'s father Alfred J. Davis, b. abt 1834, possibly in Indiana, d. after 1900; married Jane McCoy (first wife). They apparently had 2 children: Louisa and William T. By subsequent wives, William T. appears to have produced these children: Mary, Emma, Franklin, Omar (1892), Frona (? 1895), Nannie (abt 1897). I'm unable to confirm that these subsequent wives and children are connected with My William T. Davis. As you might expect, that was a fairly common name, and I need to do more research to figure out if this was the same man in all of these households. I'm all but certain of the first two wives. After that, things get a little sketchy. See anything that might link our Davis lines? Fran On Apr 9, 2006, at 7:08 PM, Jean wrote: > Fran: > I am researching Davis in Muhlenburg County, KY. 3. Hi Laura, By any chance are you related to any of the Kirtleys of McLean County? I have John Melbourne Kirtley, Sr. in my family. He married Susie B. Campbell who was my 2nd g-aunt Mariah Lorrison Campbell's daughter. County-Judge Rodney Kirtley is part of this same family, (son of John M., Jr) but I have not communicated with any of them. 2. Don, No Peck O'Neill was descended from Miller O'Neill (widow) of Drakesboro. There was a daughter Hazel who worked at Citizen Union Bank for years. I BELIEVE she was a brother to Peck, but I haven't looked at that connection for years! Dorann

    3. Did a search on "Early Families of Muhlenberg County, KY" and came up with the following (it's a long URL): http://search.netscape.com/ns/boomframe.jsp?query=%22Early+Settlers+of++Muhlenberg+County%2C+Kentucky%22&page=1&offset=0&result_url=redir%3Fsrc%3Dwebsearch%26requestId%3D5db961709a90533b%26clickedItemRank%3D1%26userQuery%3D%2522Early%2BSettlers%2Bof%2B%2BMuhlenberg%2BCounty%252C%2BKentucky%2522%26clickedItemURN%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Ffamilytreemaker.genealogy.com%252Fusers%252Fm%252Fy%252Fe%252FRon-C-Myers%252Findex.html%26invocationType%3D-%26fromPage%3DMyNS%26amp%3BampTest%3D1&remove_url=http%3A%2F%2Ffamilytreemaker.genealogy.com%2Fusers%2Fm%2Fy%2Fe%2FRon-C-Myers%2Findex.html It's on Genealogy.com's FamilyTreeMaker Online for the "Myers Genealogy." There's a lot of good stuff on the page with lots of names, including: Capt. Henry Rhoads Highway Historical Marker; Home of Capt. Henry Rhoads Photo #1, The Beaty Family; Rhoads Family Bible Photo #1; Envelope of the Letter to Soloman B.Myers; as well as Early Settlers of Muhlenberg County, Kentucky (Listing of early settlers of Muhlenberg County,Kentucky (from "History of Muhlenberg County"). There's not as many names as I thought there would be though. Regards, Janette Birch nee HELTSLEY

    3. Deborah, I don't know where you might find "Early Settlers of Muhlenberg County" by Murphy, but I can recommend "A New History of Muhlenberg County" by Paul Camplin. Those folks specialize in old and out-of-print publications.
