    3. Well thank you for this information and I will pass this on to my friend for her father in law to check out. 2. I just had to jump into the conversation. Have you checked the Browning Genealogy Database compiled by Charles Browning of Evansville, Indiana. I'll bet there are lots of Brownings and Browning relatives there. Nancy Lynn (see below) The Browning Genealogy Database is the lifetime work of Charles Browning, who compiled the obituary records of Vanderburgh County and surrounding southwestern Indiana from the Evansville newspapers: The Evansville Courier, The Evansville Press, and now The Evansville Courier and Press. Information on each deceased person listed in the database includes fifteen categories, encompassing age, date of death, survivors, funeral information, cemetery, occupation, and activities.  This attention to detail provides a vital community resource and source for genealogical research. Currently, the database is complete from the early 1900s to date and is kept up-to-date by the Browning family and the dedicated staff of the Browning Funeral Home.  In addition, Mr. Browning's people studies of Evansville area residents, comprising more than 537,000 cards, are available online in the Evansville, Indiana, Local History Database (http://local.evpl.org).

Here is what I have found in the way of a "Thomas". William T. Underwood, born April 18, 1848........wife is named Martha ****Thomas O Underwood, b May 10, 1809, d Jan 26, 1851............wife was Fannie Underwood, b July 25, 1823, d Oct 30, 1907..Rourk Cemetary, near Graham, Ky. C.T. Underwood, 1865-1931.................Mattie Underwood, 1873-1953...............Coleman Cemetary T.J.Underwood, Feb 14, 1878-May 12, 1913..........and then next listed is M.M.Underwood, Nov 11, 1884...this is TJ's wife..............there is a Zelmer, dau of these two people who died at 5 mos old. These are the only names of Underwoods that I found with a "T" listed.................lots of Underwoods born in the 1870's and 80's....then you can see the next generation born in the 1900's..................would be willing to guess that Thomas O Underwood and Fannie are the grandparents of the Underwood men I saw born int he 1870's, 80's, 90's because Thos O died in 1851.............so he would have to be the granddaddy of them. William T Underwood, who is listed above, was born in 1848 and so is probably the son of Thos O and Fannie.........and is named William Thomas Underwood. He most likely would be the father of TJ Underwood, born in 1878............that's about a 25-30 year span between the generations. I went thru the Muhl Co Marriage records and the first Underwoods that show up in the records begin in 1860........a Lucille Underwood. So guess that she is 15-20...........makes her born in the 1840's............old enough to be a daughter of Thos and Fannie. Could not find their marriage record so they must have married before arriving in Muhl Co. Oldest Underwood I could find in the Circuit Court Orders was a Josiah Underwood who took a land deed in 1805. Let me know if you want me to send you ALL Underwoods listed in all 4 cemetary books. 1850 Census........... Thomas O Underwood, 33, b, NC Fanny, 26, b TENN Nancy E, 8 TENN William T, 3, TENN Minerva C, 21, TENN............she could be Thos' sister? (boy, I was right..........William T was a son to this couple!.........but wait! 1850 Census........ 3. Thanks for sharing that story, Cheryl. I have one too. It is indeed a small world. Around 1986 while I was visiting my brother in Carpinteria, California, (near Santa Barbara), he pointed to a neighbor of his and said, "Sis, you just have to meet that lady next door. She reminds me so much of Mother." So he and I walked out and moseyed over to where the lady was watering her flowers. My brother then greeted her with "Good morning, Mary, I'd like you to meet my sister." As soon as she spoke, I got that warm fuzzy feeling because she sounded just like Mom. It was then that I had to ask her, "Where do you come from, Mary?." She replied, "Oh, you probably never heard of it, but I was born in Paradise, Kentucky!" "NO KIDDING!" I said, "Muhlenberg County?" we asked. And she said, "YES!" "So was our mother!", we told her. Mary then said, "My name is really "Minnie." "That is also our mother's name!" we told her. We just had to learn more about this lovely lady, so we talked. Come to find out, her maiden name was VAUGHT, and she is a cousin on our FATHER'S side! So what do you think of that? As Cheryl said, you just never know. Jean in New York. ----- Original Message ----- From: "cheryl cessna" <dutchgalncal11@comcast.net> To: <KYMUHLEN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, May 04, 2006 12:14 AM Subject: Re: [KYMUHLEN] If you requested birth records . . . >I have to share this bit with everyone because I think you will all enjoy >this. Well, she informs me that her father-in-law was just getting started in his Browning genealogy and is really excited and that he was from Kentucky. I asked what town.........."Owensboro". S.D.Underwood, 32, farmer, KY Martha M, 32 TENN James M, 7, Ky Marty T, 4, KY William T, 2, KY Martha S, 1, KY (so now there are 2 William T Underwoods, 1 yr apart) 1850 Census William B Underwood, 37, farmer, NC Falamy 28, Tenn Alfred 12, Ky Alexander 10, Ky Caroline 8, Ky Noah 6, Ky William B, 4, Ky Nancy 1, Ky My 1870 and 1880 census show lots more Underwoods and the thing that really stands out is that the Underwood men were born in No Carolina and they married and started families in Tennessee, then migrated into Kentucky. Hope this helps and again, let me know if I can help further! 3. Hi. If you requested the Muhlenberg County birth indexes 1874-1878 but have not received them, there may be some sort of glitch in cyberspace. I tried to send to everyone who requested the info, but I got bounce-backs from some addresses. If your address is on this list and you did not receive the documents, please write directly to me at fallingoaks@mac.com (instead of hitting "reply" to this message) and let me know. I'll try sending again -- maybe sending the documents separately instead of in a single e-mail. I hope to submit the indexes to the Muhlenberg County web site as soon as the web master recovers from surgery. Best wishes for speedy healing, Jonathan! Thanks.
