Mr. MacTavish, As I said in the guestbook entry to Yontz Family Page, the Yonts family figured prominently in our Helsley family in the early 1800s in Muhlenberg County, Ky. The earliest one of reference is Eva Elizabeth Yonts born March 7, 1782 in Rowan County, N.C. to William Yonts (1752-1809) and Mary Magdalena ...(1752-1825). Eva Elizabeth Yonts married Jacob Helsley, my g-g-g-g-grandfather(too many gs maybe). They were the parents of another g-gr--father, William Helsley, who took a second wife, Catherine Yonts, Sept. 9, 1856 Muhlenberg. Jacob Helsley's brother, Michael, also married a Susannah Yonts Feb. 15, 1825. She also was a daughter of William Yonts, above. Susannah was born 1798 in N.C. Let me know if you have better ties with more details. I'm doing a book on Heltsley family history. I can be a little more specific. Ernie Heltsley/Tucson/native Muhlenberg Co., Ky/ex-Saline County, Ill.
My aunt's first husband (who died in 1979, in Muhlenberg County) was Rayburn Yonts, son of Alfred Yonts and Ida Rust. My aunt can be reached at: Mrs. Margie Wilcox 243 No. Cherry Street Greenville, KY 42345 She is not on the Internet. However, she undoubtedly knows more about Rayburn's family. HI DONNA, Archibald Yontz is indeed a member of my Yonts family tree, though from a different branch. I don't have much on him and I have nothing on Mary Pannell. Below is a tree I have for Archie. It's incomplete. However, I believe there are a number of trees concerning Archie's line on my Yonts web site, with much more information. Just look for the trees pertaining to William Yonts, Sr., born 1752. Also, I'm quite sure that this same William Yonts, Sr. is the son of Wilhelm Jans, born 1714 in Oberalben, Germany. But I haven't been able to prove this yet. Cheers, Dr. D. Dear Billie, A day or two ago you wrote a few lines about Jeff Murphy. I believe that Jeff touched many of our lives and he certainly did a great deal to further genealogical research online. We will miss him. I corresponded with Jeff for many years, since I was particularly interested in Muhlenberg County KY as was Jeff. Not too long ago I wrote and asked him how he was doing. That is just about the time that things really started looking bad for him. I got a nice personal note back from him at that time, and at the same time he posted a message to several lists informing everyone of the bad situation with his health. Other people responded to him through the lists. Yesterday I got a private message from his widow, Debra, and I wrote back directly to her. She was so grateful to hear from me. She said it is helping her to cope. So, everybody, if you feel as sad as I do about Jeff's death, feel free to write a note to Debra. I think she will appreciate it. Her address is: Debra Murphy [email protected] Jean Rhoads Camas in Long Island
HI ERNIE, THANKS FOR THE ADDRESS, I WAS GOING TO VISIT BRENDA NEXT MONTH AND THOUGHT I WOULD COPY WHAT I NEEDED, BUT IF I CAN BUY IT, THAT WOULD BE BETTER. DIDN'T THINK THERE WAS ANYMORE AROUND, I DIDN'T KNOW SHE GAVE THE PRINTING RIGHTS AWAY. Hi Joyce, I'm not selling books but if the library doesn't have a copy of Brenda's book you can buy it from A.B. Willhite, 4396 Coopertown Road, Russellville, Ky. 42276. Brenda turned over rights to print and sell the book. There's actually two books for a total of $60 or so. Ernie
Does anyone on the list have access to records that would show adoption of a William Winters by Susan or William Crockett around 1859 or inheritance of property by him from either of them? William Crockett would have died after 1860. Susan died around 1859. Also looking for any information on Eliza Pannell in Central City. She was living in S.Carrollton in 1860 but lived in Central City in the 1880's. She could have been living with her daughter Martha Pannell Ross and family. Donna

Paulette: I don't have a book. I have Family Tree Maker's Family Archives Census Microfilm Records: Kentucky, 1850, CD #303. You either have to use Family Tree Maker and have it open when you view their CDs, or you have to buy a special CD they sell that allows you to view their CDs. I think it cost about $30.00. It's better than a book because you can view the actual census images and can decide for yourself, spellings, ages, etc. Details can be found on FTM's website, where you can also order the CD. I use mine weekly, plus other 1850 census I have purchased from them for Indiana, Illinois, and Pennsylvania. Can't wait for Missouri to be ready!
