Malisa (b.ca. 1858) and James W. (b.ca. 1860) HALE were the children of John D. Hale and Martha (Lam) Hale. They appeared in the 1870 Muhlenberg County census with their mother Martha and her second husband Elijah D. Peavlar. Would like to know what happened to these two children. Cannot locate them following 1870 in Muhlenberg County. Thanks. Dorann O'Neal Lam
Looking for information on Daniel B. Lam b. 1861, son of Elijah Lamb and Martha Cates. Appeared with his parents in the 1880 Muhlenberg County census. He died in Muhlenberg County in 1916. I'm unable to locate him in the 1900 and 1910 censuses. Want to know where he lived from 1800 until 1916. He did not marry. Help appreciated. Thanks. Dorann O'Neal Lam
Thanks Mary...I will do that also....:>)... Hope that you are coming around great on your Lee name.... Best, Margaret
Just in case your Central City mine accident doesn't work out to be the correct one - I have a person who died "in a mine accident " (not a direct ancestor) and come to find out, it was in a very small mine on his own property, with very few workers. He was the only fatality. There were a few details on his death certificate, though - it says something like "shelf fell on him in mine" on the certificate. If you don't have this person's death certificate you might get a copy and it might tell you something in the cause of death. Go to http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/sources/vitals.html and you will find a list of three people who will copy death certifcates for you (non-certified, for genealogical purposes) for less than the "certified" price. Mary K. Becker >>> [email protected] 08/24/01 09:53AM >>> Dena..........that is a great offer....thanks........ If it wouldn't be any trouble for you......... His name is BENJAMIN CALVIN CRUNK......born April 10, 1886 and died Feb.08,1912.......(date is close to the accident date) It is just "Ben" Crunk in the 1910 censues in Providence,Ky. with a young wife of just 16...her name was Emma Lee (Baker) Crunk... All I know about him is he died young......his fathers second wife is my paternal grandmother.... The census has him as a "coal miner" in 1910 so I looked around on the web and found that there were two coal mining accidents in 1912 . The one in Central City and there was one on April 21,1912....but I thought maybe the one in Central City because it would be closer to Providence.... I live in Michigan so I truely appreciate this.... Thanks again for the offer........ Responding to your email below: I did not find Lehr name in the Muhlenberg County marriage book 1802-1904. But there were several Lear grooms, marriages for John and Henry Lear 1880, 1885 and others later. Do you have an approximate date when they might have passed through Muhlenberg County? Lehr is not a familiar name to me. Oh, yes, Henry Lear m. S.A. Hardison, 29 Oct 1885. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Looking for anyone searching the Lehr family. I'm looking for the ather of Marvin Allen Lehr born 22 Nov 1855 in Pa, OH or Il. His mother was Mary Jane Lehr born 1829 in Ohio and died 1910 possibly in Schaller, Iowa. I'm searching about 3 different Lehr branches that I'm trying to connect to PA. Frank and Marvin's fathers possibly came from the same Lehr family in PA. Also looking for the parents of Frank Edwin Lehr born 5/4/1860 in DePue, Il. His father was from PA and his mother (Winkler) was from VA. Frank also had a sister Adda M. Lehr born 1856 in Ohio. Bothe familes moved to Schaller, Iowa in 1880 and stayed until about 1900, and then Marvin and his family went to Omaha, NE and Frank and his family went to San Francisco, CA Henry (died 1952) and Elsie (died 1945) Lehr Sr.went to Omaha, NE and are buried in Forest Lawn Cemetry. Appreciate in any or leads on family, parents, siblings or info. At a brick wall in VA. Also looking for info on AAUCh & Lehr wagon masters in 1879 in Kentucky.

Thank you Sandy for sharing your e-mail with us. I really enjoyed that. That really says it all, doesn't it? Anna Warf
Dear Listers, I received this in an email today. Wonderful sentiment. Maybe it will stimulate us to reach and share and go to those libraries, records offices, and web sites to find those shreds of yesteryear that tell our own family stories! Happy Hunting, Sandy - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - We are the chosen. In each family there is one who seems called to find the ancestors. To put flesh on their bones and make them live again, to tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve. Doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts but, instead, breathing life into all who have gone before. We are the story tellers of the tribe. All tribes have one. We have been called, as it were, by our genes. Those who have gone before cry out to us: Tell our story. So, we do. In finding them, we somehow find ourselves. How many graves have I stood before now and cried? I have lost count. How many times have I told the ancestors, "You have a wonderful family; you would be proud of us." How many times have I walked up to a grave and felt somehow there was love there for me? I cannot say. It goes beyond just documenting facts. It goes to who am I and why do I do the things I do. It goes to seeing a cemetery about to be lost forever to weeds and indifference and saying I can't let this happen. The bones here are bones of my bone and flesh of my flesh. It goes to doing something about it. It goes to pride in what our ancestors were able to accomplish. How they contributed to what we are today. It goes to respecting their hardships and losses, their never giving in or giving up, their resoluteness to go on and build a life for their family. It goes to deep pride that the fathers fought and some died to make and keep us a Nation. It goes to a deep and immense understanding that they were doing it for us. It is of equal pride and love that our mothers struggled to give us birth, without them we could not exist, and so we love each one, as far back as we can reach. That we might be born who we are. That we might remember them. So we do. With love and caring and scribing each fact of their existence, because we are they and they are the sum of who we are. So, as a scribe called, I tell the story of my family. It is up to that one called in the next generation to answer the call and take my place in the long line of family storytellers. That is why I do my family genealogy, and that is what calls those young and old to step up and restore the memory or greet those whom we had never known before. (Unknown Author)
