    1. obit look-up
    2. Hi, I am trying to find the parents of Lillian Eakins who married a Robert Jarvis and both died in Muhlenberg Co., KY. Lillian was born Oct 1893 (per 1900 census) and died Apr 1, 1962. The KY birth records stop at 1955. Her father was Wade Eakins (of my line). Wade had three wives, we think. In 1910 Wade is in Muhlenberg Co with his children, but not with a wife who supposedly died. Wade is listed as married once and for 18yr. Wife could be Fanny, Nora or Ada. And the wife could have died by 1910, but why would Wade be listed still as married?? Census takers error?? Anyway, since Lillian is the only one who seems to have died in Muh. County I thought perhaps an obit might tell. In 1900 Wade and Fannie are in Webster Co, a daughter (Georgia) is listed as 11, and Fannie and Wade are married 8 yrs. So Fannie is #2. Any help anyone can give on Wade and his ladies would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Thanks so much. Helen Zuber Keusch in sunny southern Indiana forever searching the EAKINS, FORD/FOARD, MELTON, WALCUP, SANDEFUR, EZELL, HANDLEY, THOMASSON, ZUBER, GUTEKUNST/GOODART, ANTHIS, BANGERT, LAND, CRABTREE, BENNETT, EDWARDS, REEVES, WOOFORD families--my lines; and on hubby's side the families of MEHRINGER, SCHITTER/SCHUETTER, HOCHGESANG, SCHMITT, HURST, BECHER, KEUSCH, ACKERMAN, BURGER, and HOPF.

    3. Willilam Elgin Davis' mother was Martha Hogan born 8 July 1809 and died 1886. She was the daughter of John Hogan. in HISTORY OF ROVER AND THE 10TH DISTRICT OF BEDFORD COUNTY, TENNESSEE published May 1, 1999 page 196 is a photo of first home of Thomas W. Davis in the 10th district. there is also one of Thomas W. and Martha Hogan Davis. about four or five pages of information and photos of the Davis family. I have found no connection between this Davis family and Jefferson Davis--there is a monument at Fairview, Ky. (Christian County) where Jefferson Davis was born. the Jefferson Davis memorial park was dedicated in 1908. Work on the monument began in 1917, was at a stand still during World War I, It was finished and dedicated in June 1924. the electric elevator was dedicated in May 1929. It was closed for awhile, but I think it is open again to the public. 3. Bobby Davis has done some family research and the area that they lived in, Stringtown. Stringtown was stripped and no longer exists. He published a book, titled "Stringtown Reunion". I'm not certain how much is Davis family and how much is locational. He still lives in Muhlenberg County and can probably be found in the phone book. Subject: Davis One of the other lists is doing a run on William Davises. So, I think perhaps I should see what I can do about mine: I have several: I have a 1. W. T. Davis (not sure this is a William, but taking a bit of liberty here), born about 1895. He married Ella Morris born in 1898, probably in Caldwell County, (But, I'm not sure about that either. Ella had two sisters, Thula and Pearl. They were the children of Thomas Copeland Morris and Sarah Frances Eli. 2. William Davis born about 1832 married Rebecca Elizabeth Franklin. She was born about 1836 in Kentucky, daughter of Jerimaiah and Elizabeth Jackson Franklin. Her parents both died in Hopkins County. 3. William Davis born about 1870, married Fredonia Fowler born in 1874, daughter of James Edward Fowler and Sarah P. T. Young. James died in Christian County. 4. William H. Davis born abouta 1850 married Delila Beshears born about 1856, daughter of Henry and Dorcus Parker Beshears. 5. William L. Davis born 1823 Hopkins County, married Rosey Jane Timmons born 1827 Hopkins County, daughter of Feilding and Mary Dumville Timmons. William P. Davis born about 1885 married Almish Earle born about 1890 and finally 6. William Rucker Davis born about 1875 married Rosella Florence Stevens born about 1880. One daughter that aI know of, Auzie Belle David born about 1900. She married James David Menser in Caldwell County. ============================== View and search Historical Newspapers. There is an article in the paper about a new Family History Research Room in the Hopkins County Court House. this room has been organized by the Hopkins County Genealogical Society-room 22 is located on the main floor of the courthouse, being the first room on the left when entering the courthouse by the Main Street entrance. Many original records either in book or in bundles. They are still working on organizing some of the old bundles found in the attic of the courthouse.
