    1. Cates and Anderson in Muhlenberg
    2. Dear List, Anyone related to William and Nancy (Cates) Anderson? Julia Ann Frances ANDERSON was the d/o of William Anderson and Nancy J. Cates. Julia was born ca. 1862 in Muhlenberg County. I can trace her through the 1880 Muhlenberg County census where she was listed as a servant in the home of John Morton. Nothing more can be found. She was not in the 1900 Muhlenberg County census. She could have died or married during that period of time. William Anderson died in 1878. Nancy J. (Cates) Anderson did not died until 19 Jan 1912. I cannot find Nancy between 1800 census and her death. Seek to know where Nancy lived 1880 until 1912. Did daughter Julia marry and live outside Muhlenberg County? Did her mother Nancy live with her? This would account for her missing from Muhlenberg County records. Julia had two older brothers who remained in Muhlenberg County (Wilson Green Anderson and Elijah J. Anderson). Has anyone discovered Julia Ann Anderson and her mother Nancy J. (Cates) Anderson? Any leads appreciated. Thanks. Dorann O'Neal Lam

    2. Your sis wrote to the Muhlenberg list.this is her answer..hope it helps..:>)... I am so sorry to here about the problems with Larry's military "thing"..( for lack of what to call it..lol..) It is strange, to say the least, that something that is due is held for over a year after he passed..hummmm....By the time you get you will have spent as much getting it... We are doing ok up this way...Dick is still working good but plans on retiring as soon as the credit union is paid off........by this time next year. He will be 63 on April 23rd...and looking forward to be "out to pasture".lol.. The loan isn't even ours..it is what he got to help our oldest son... Oldest so, Rich has been working in Cleveland,Ohio for almost a year....comes home on the weekend. He has 2 cats that I have to watch over at his house...which I have to do today... He works for a company out of Detroit, Mi and was sent to the Ford plant last year to do his type of work....it is possible that shortly the job there will be done so he has been sending out resumes trying to get closer to home. Most places won't pay the wages he is making with this company..$35 an hr...(lots more than his dad..) Youngest son has a almost 1 yr old son..Nicholas...my 1st grandson...That makes 3 kids for him... Daughter..(middle child) is divorced, remarried and due in May...with my second grandson...:>)...( Dylan..pronounced Dillan...Richard..after Dick..:>)..)..This will be 4 kids for her... I wanted to be there when he is born but we have a dog now and we can't leave him alone all the hours while Dick works so we are planning on going in July when Dick has two weeks off and we will take Toby with us...This will be the 1st one I have missed being there for..:>( I even seen the last one born..NOW that is an experience!!!!!..lol.. I do hope that things will start going right for you very soon... I am not looking forward to if I am left as you are.but.it could very well be me first but we don't know... Health wise we are ????...both are still smoking and I know it will be my downfall.... I haven't done too much genealogy in a while ..no excuse... Let me know if the info will help you.....Betty must have been excited when she read it but I didn't know if you would read it or now... I am going to go and play a game on pogo.:>)...Hooked there.lol.. Till later.... Love ya loads...and yes, I may not write BUT I do think about you alot.. Take care, Margaret

    3. Betty, I believe your Harper family in Muhlenburg was a branch off my great grandfathers sister's family. She married a Harper in Muhlenberg and his father was Joel Harper married to a Hill. This could be fun as I dig deeper into the Underwood Family Tree there in Muhlenberg. My great grandfather's family is in Muhlenberg County in the 1860 census records. Then my great grandfather and his family left Muhlenberg by covered wagons in the 1860's and befrore my father died, he showed me where the wagons circled on arrival in Hamilton County, Illinois. There, the family shows up in the 1870 census. As a matter of fact I have three sisters buried on a hill overlooking the place where the wagons circled. 2. Hello Mary! My name is Ivan Tucker. I lived at Browder for many years and knew several of the people you mentioned in your Email _KYMUHLEN-L@rootsweb.com_ (mailto:KYMUHLEN-L@rootsweb.com) . I knew Doss Pryor who owned the Gas station at Drakesboro. We were good friends and I use to stop in and see him often. I also knew the Pendley's who owned land across the road from us on Rt. 431 at the Southern edge of Browder, Levi & his' son Leonard Pendley. There were also several families named Knight at Browder and surrounding areas. Thare was a girl named Martha Kimmel. I never knew the DePoyster's, however! they were located in both Central City & Greenville. Some of the names you mentioned are not familiar to me, but, that dosen't mean they didn't live in the area you spoke of. My oldest daughter had a crush on Leonard when they were in their early teens, but that was all it ever amounted to. Sincerely, Ivan Tucker.

Visit at: http://www.couchgenweb.com/civilwar/ This site also has a great message board Additional links to other state Civil War webpage's (Alabama, Texas, Kentucky) can be found there as well.
