Hi cousins, Found this info in a magazine article, "The Odd Couple," about Eleanor Parke Custis Lewis who was raised by her step- grandfather of George Washington. Thought ya-alls might be interested. Jane Fielding Lewis, son of Col John & Frances Fielding, is the Fielding that married Betty Washington, George's sister. See info below: Martha Washington's (George's wife) son by her first marriage was John "Jacky" Parke Custis, m. Eleanor Calvert. Jacky and Eleanor 's daughter was Eleanor ( who was raised by George and Martha Washington). Eleanor married Lawrence Lewis, son of Col. Fielding Lewis and Betty Washington. (Betty was George Washington's only sister.) When Jacky Custis died in 1781, Eleanor was left with four small children. She agreed to let George and Martha Washington raise the two youngest, Nelly and her brother, who had been named after his step-grandfather, (Washy). Their older sisters lived on a remote plantation with a stern stepfather and their mother.
