In response to a query from Diane Parsons <[email protected]>: >We went to Morgan County >today, searching for the cemetery in the Grassy Creek Area. Unfortunately, >after much searching, we were unable to locate the cemetery where John C. >& Nancy are buried. We did find two cemeteries, but not the correct one. Jim Ferguson replied: >The only information I have on the Nickell Cemetery says it is located on >Nickell Fork of Grassy Creek about 1/2 mile east of Hwy 205. My Morgan >County map seems to contradict those directions because it shows Nickell >Fork to be west of Hwy 205. This map can be found at > >http://ukcc.uky.edu/~maps/ I bet the directions should be "1/2 mile east of Hwy 203". On the map that Jim linked to, set the scrollbars to about 1/3 horizontal and about 5/8 vertical. On state 203, at the Consolation Mission Church, you will see a road called "Nickell Fork", running southeast along a waterway by the same name. After about 1 mile, the road splits into Byrd Road and Daysboro Road. On the Daysboro Road portion are two cemetery markers. Of course, those might be the two cemeteries that Diane found, in which case maybe the stones for John C. and Nancy Ferguson are missing. But this Nickell Fork is not real close to Grassy Creek (about 5 miles southwest), so she may have not been looking in that area.
