Judith this is going to be another confusing note BUT, wouldn't OXSHIRE probably be Auxier? I ask because I descend from John Van Hoose and Mary Bryan (b.ca 1770). Their son Jesse married Edy Brown (grdaughter of Thomas C.). Mary's nephew married an Oxshire. Mary's Bryan family seems to be mixed mightily with the Germana colony (Rectors, Hite, etc) in VA. Mary Goodyear was asking me about Mary's brother's grandson, Owen Ramey, and I ran across a note that his son married an Oxshire. I'm thinking that the Houisen family and House I run up against in Frederick County Va with our Browns (Friends etc...) might be John Van Hoose's family. Thanks Laura
