Is anyone researching any AMYX families in Morgan or Wolfe County? I recently found out that my grandfather - Troy ELAM, born February 8, 1896 in Wolfe County, who was the illegitmate son of Betty (Elizabeth) ELAM born April 23, 1867 in Insko, Morgan County - was fathered by an AMYX, according to information Troy's sister passed on to her niece. Betty never married, but had a total of seven children (including a set of twins) and it appears there were five different men involved. Obviously this has not been easy trying to figure out the situation and people involved, and I was grateful to get the information, but disappointed the first name was not given (or maybe not known). Does anyone have any information that might help regarding the situation, possibly know of an AMYX man that had fathered children out of wedlock or one who would have been the appropriate age? Or any suggestions on where to look for information? I'm trying hard to find out the circumstances surrounding Betty's life and any hints would be greatly appreciated. For obvious reasons, it was something my grandfather didn't talk about, and he died in 1966 when I was quite young. Betty was born in Morgan County and is buried there, but was in Wolfe County for a time, and possibly Magoffin. Sharon
