Is anyone out there a direct descendant of Capt JOhn T. Williams of Civil War. Need names of 2-two direct descendants to procure a marker for him from the Sons of Confederate Veterans. I know there has to be someone, he married Rebecca Henry and settled in West Liberty after the war. Can anyone help. Sharon I hope the following will be of help: Children of Rebecca Henry and John T. Williams, Capt. I. Ann "Annie" Elizabeth WILLIAMS (11,12,13) b: 16 November 1847 in Morgan Co., KY (14 ) d: 26 August 1887 in Morgan Co., KY Buried: Williams Farm Cemetery, on Lowe Hollow Lane off Liberty Road, Morgan Co., KY Married: James M. GREENWADE (15) on 01 May 1870 in Menifee Co., KY Son of Thomas Greenwade and Sarah _____ b: circa 1843 (16) d: 1887 (17) Buried: Unknown 1870 Menifee Co. KY Census #3-44 James Greenwade, age 25, head of household, Sheriff, b. KY Ann E., age 23, wife, b. KY Anne Williams Greenwade and James M. Greenwade each had filed court cases in Morgan Co. courts in November 1885. From the Order Book it is difficult to ascertain if Anne had filed for divorce and James counter sued, or if the case was related to the settlement of Capt. John T. Williams' will. In Order Book 17, p. 141 (abt. 1885/86) Anne was "empowered to use, enjoy, sell, and convey for her benefits any property she may own or acquire free from debts of her husband and be seen as a single woman to trade on her name or dispose of her own property by work or deed in the same way and subject to other to the same in all actions as a single and unmarried woman and this case is filed away." James apparently contested John T. Williams' will as he came to court with a certified copy of the will in April 1887 at which time the suit was against Rebecca Williams, widow and executrix of John T. Williams' estate. Anne died in August 1887 and in the 10 Oct 1887 court it was brought out that James was dead. This was proven in the April 1888 court when W. A. Maxey was representing James M. Greenwade, deceased. The law suit between the attorneys for Anne and James was dismissed in April 1888 at which times both parties were ordered to pay their own court costs.
