Hi gang! I ran this by Ann first to make sure it was OK to post this to the list and she agreed whole heartedly. Below is a link to view the Buffington Island Petition. This petition is to stop construction of a gravel site on this historic Battlefield. This battlefield in Meigs Co., Ohio is also a burial place for 60 + soldiers in unmarked graves. This gravel company has said they will save 40 acres of land where they think they are all buried, but are definitely not sure of the exact whereabouts. Gen. John Hunt Morgan is mentioned throughout our Kentucky history. Some of us may have ancestors that rode with John Hunt Morgan and may be buried there in these unknown graves. I ask that you please at least read this petition. If you feel as strongly against this as myself and Ann do, then please sign it and pass it on to anyone else you may know that would like to know more about it. This Civil War battlefield is very close to my grandparents home in Vinton Co., Ohio. I haven't been there in years. But now since I am researching my ancestors and their backgrounds, I feel this is very wrong what these people want to do with this historic land. We may not be standing up for our ancestors, but someone else's! http://www.PetitionOnline.com/Buff/petition.html Thanks for your time, Deanna Levito & Ann Lemaster-Applegate
