    3. I am looking for information about Elizabeth Baker Nickell Davis who was born in the late 1700's in Virginia. I do not know for sure who her first husband was except that his last name was Baker. His first name may have been James and he was also born in Virginia. I do not know for sure that his name was James but do know that there is a marriage record in Morgan Co., Ky. for this Elizabeth Baker when she married Thomas Nickell, Sr. in 1835 and I found them in the 1850 census in Morgan Co. KY. and this was the listing there: Thomas Nickell, Sr. age 84 born in Virginia. Elizabeth Nickell female age 58 born in Virginia. Nancy Nickell female age 25 born in Ky. and listed as an Idiot. George Nickell male age 15 born in Ky. Mahala Nickell female age 14 born in Ky. Now, Thomas Nickell, Sr. and Elizabeth Baker had been married about 15 years in 1850 so obviously the female Nancy is not a Nickell and not Thomas Nickell's daughter. She was from the previous marriage of Elizabeth Baker so was probably a Baker, and the census taker just assumed that everyone in the house was named Nickell or not told otherwise. It does not list the relationship to the head of house in the 1850 census so we just have to guess whether or not George Nickell and Mahala Nickell are the children of Thomas Nickell and Elizabeth or grandchildren of their's. I do think that George Nickell is their child for sure though. Mahala maybe but she could be a grand daughter. Don't know. Does anyone out there know? Thomas Nickell, Sr. died not long after the 1850 census in the early 1850's because we find that Elizabeth Nickell then married James Alfred Davis on May 5, 1853 in Morgan Co., Ky. and had no children together. James Davis had been married to a Catherine Salyers before and had 13 children with her. James Davis died on Oct. 1, 1861 in West Liberty, Morgan Co., Ky. and was buried on Oct. 3rd at the Southfork Cemetery in West Liberty, Ky. Someone passed on some information to me saying that Elizabeth Baker had several children by this man named Baker before he died. They were: 1. Eliza Baker born Sept. 16, 1818 and died July 1889. She married a William Childers in 1859 in Morgan Co.Ky. 2. Elizabeth Baker born in 1822 or 1823 was married to John B. Nickell [these are my GGG Grandparents]. 3. Nancy Baker born abt. 1825 in Ky. and was said to be an idiot child according to the census. It is said that she had a daughter named Cynthia who was born out of wedlock. 4. Martha Francis Baker born May 1827 in Perry Co. Ky. and she died April 20, 1924 in Morgan Co. Ky. She first married a Henry Oditt and he drown in a river. She then married Uriah Cottle. It is also said that Nancy married a Timothy Terrill on March 9, 1848 in Morgan Co.,Ky. Mahala may have been the daughter of Nancy Baker also. Some think that Elizabeth Baker's maiden name was Patrick. I do know that she was born in Virginia and in the 1880 and 1900 census, my GGG Grandmother, Elizabeth Bettie Baker Nickell says that both of her parents were born in Virginia. However, Elizabeth [Bettie] was born in Ky. I don't know where in Ky. Elizabeth Baker Nickell Davis died in 1868 in Morgan Co., Ky. I don't know where she is buried or if there is a stone for her. Some say that there is a connection with her to an Andrew Wilson,Sr. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who could help me find out more information about Elizabeth and her family. I have a lot on her daughter's family, Elizabeth Baker who married John B.Nickell and also on their daughter, Elizabeth Nickell Little who was my GG Grandmother and married Greenville T. Little from Morgan Co., Ky. I have pictures of my Elizabeth Nickell Little and would be glad to share any information and pictures that I have with anyone who is interested and could help me with this family.
