The Elam Family Research Page The Elam Family Research Page \ NORMA NEILL'S ENGLISH & AMERICAN ELAM DATABASES ARE NOW ON-LINE!!! SEE LINK BELOW IN THE "CONTENTS" SECTION!!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am actively researching the Elam family in the U.S. and England. Thus far, my father and I have traced our roots back to James Elam and Alice Shirecliffe of Yorkshire England and Robert Elam, also from somewhere in Yorkshire, England, who immigrated to Virginia in 1638. The Elam family reportedly owned several ships and made voyages between England and Virginia during this time period. Robert and his family lived near the Jamestown Colony in Henrico County, Virginia. My line of Elams lived in Henrico and Chesterfield County, Virginia, until sometime in the early 1800s when Jesse Elam moved to Warren County, Kentucky. Jesse subsequently moved to Dallas County, Texas, where he died in 1854. The rest of my line are all Texans. My personal research goal is to locate Robert and Ann's origins in England and to trace the family back from there. In addition to my direct line, I also collect all Elams (and spelling variations thereon) in the hope of being able to help others in their Elam family research. I maintain a database (see "surname" link below) consisting of names that I have found, as well as information submitted to me by fellow researchers. If you have any additional names, dates, etc. that you would like to have added to the database or if you see anything that needs correcting (with this many names I have a hard time catching everything) PLEASE let me know. Also, if you have any suggestions on how I can make these pages better or easier to use, drop me an e-mail. Dorothy: I have gone over the letter below and somehow do not find a web site link to an Elam History. Please send me the "http://www" - link to this web site. I would appreciate it very much. Dorothy, I hope you have received the letter I sent just a bit ago explaining my connection to the Elams (via this KYMORGAN discussion board. RE: Any Elam descendants that live in Texas. I too live in Texas - southern Wise County - near the North Shore of Eagle Mountain Lake - next to the Tarrant Co. line about 20 miles north of the Fort Worth City limits. I have taken note over the years that there has been an Elam family reunion from time to time in Decatur, Wise Co., TX , It has usually been held at a church site near the LBJ National Grasslands north of Decatur. I would sure like to get invited to the next Elam reunion in the Dallas, Fort Worth, Decatur area.
