You know behind the scenes at the Morgan County GenWeb site we have many sweet people contributing their time and efforts to getting more information online to make available (for free) to Morgan County Researchers. Right now Connie Spurlock and our ACC, Diana Trimble Crace, are working on several projects at once. In a few days (if I can make the pages fast enough) we'll have lots of new obituaries and descriptions of communities with in Morgan County. And I hear that an online census is in the works too! Tonight I was able to make pages for Diana's new cemetery information. If you visit http://www.rootsweb.com/~kymorgan/whatsnew.html you will be directed to four new cemeteries. Roger Gross kindly donated a list of all Morgan County cemeteries. Right now I'm trying to figure out which cemeteries we have already posted go with what name on his list. Once I do this, we'll have a complete index of Morgan County cemeteries with links to those that have pages. I know that a good number of folks want more pictures. 3. Hi folks! I have updated the guest book at the KyGenWeb site. The new guest book will allow you to list the surnames you are researching as well as talk about your brickwalls. If you sign in, the guest book is indexed by the search engine at the site so others sharing your surname will find your entry easily. Please consider posting your surnames at the guest book http://pub41.bravenet.com/guestbook/show.php?usernum=3436406367 I am now making a change at FreeFind so that it will index the guest book about once a week. 3. In Ella's Scrapbook there is an article about "A Mystery Murder." "About the close of the Civil War, Joe Hicumbottom came from North Carolina to visit with his sisters, Mrs. Hiram Greear and Mrs. Calvin Stamper. Joe liked the country and decided to stay for awhile, making his home with his sister, Mrs. Stamper. Not so long after Joe came to KY, his cousin, George came for a visit with him. Joe introduced him to his acquaintances....." "The Pratts had some girls with whom Joe was acquainted, and, of course took his cousin up there to meet them." Cries were heard during the night by neighbors (Amyx). A man was begging some one not to kill him. Next morning, a man could be seen crouching in the path across the creek. The Amyxs crossed over and found Joe Hicumbottom down on his knees, with both his eyes gouged out--dead. "George Hicumbottom was never seen afterwards." "The Pratts claimed that the boys left there in the best of humor, and no one else had known of any ill feeling between them. It was just another unsolved mystery". J. Monroe Gevedon, Grassy Creek, KY. Anyone have any information about this Joe or George? My ancestor, Jack Higginbotham, is not mentioned. Jack lived as an Indian in the mountains south of White Oak. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! Search - Faster. Easier. Bingo.

    3. What I really need to know is: Was William Hill married to Margaret Rowland, and when he died did she marry Bill Weaver. I know there were 2 Wmn Hills here just about that time and some sources list one of them as marrying first Martha Holland, then Martha Williams. I think my William was married to Martha HOlland, then Margaret Rowland not Martha Williams, If yu could help to clarify this it would be wonderful.
