Joe, What do you have on Silas Pieratt and his second wife Eliza Jane Oakley. I have that they had a daughter named Lula E. Pieratt. Lula married my Grandfather as his second wife. We have a Dewey Dennis b according to the stone, b 1898 and died 1929. he is buried beside my ggrandfather John William Ratliff b 1850 Morgan Co., KY d 1934 in Rocky Ford, CO. No one in the family knows who Dewey Dennis is. Our family provided the stone for him and it is the same as my ggrandfathers. Since the name Dennis comes up in KY we wonder if someone came with them from KY to MO then to CO. We just don't know. It's a mystery. We would like to learn who this person is and why he was connected to our family. My aunt (now deceased and the last family member) says she thinks he may have been family of James H Smith who married Frances Elizabeth Congleton Hill (my grandma Lillie Hill Ratliff's mother) (Lillie m John W Ratliff's son Adrain Benjamin) James H Smith was also from KY and probably married Frances in Wolfe county but I haven't found the record because of court house fires. James and Elizabeth and also, Ben and Lillie are also buried in Rocky Ford, CO. Thanks for any help. Marge

Hi Joe, Yes, I know of Gillie Ann.... What do you have on Lula Pieratt? She married to Bert McKinney. I would REALLY like to know where she is buried. Do you have a comprehensive list of which Pieratt's are buried in the Pieratt cemetery in Morgan County down close to Ezel.... I was/am going to visit there next weekend. Lula's Father is Silas and mother, Eliza Jane Oakley. Lula died of TB. She was only married to my Grandfather for about a year. They had no children. I can't seem to find her.... but Bert taught school in YOCUM and his brother A.B. McKinney lived around there also.... in fact there is a road named after him called A.B. McKinney road over near Yocum. I have a cousin there that I have never met.... Harold McKinney. His wife Henrietta does a lot of McKinney genealogy there in Morgan Co. Laura, "The Kentucky Explorer" article about Yocuum Falls in the May issue is on page 61, if you haven't already found it. It is a picture of the beautiful falls and a brief article (paragraph) from "The Kentucky Magazine" 1950-1951. The article notes that the falls are located on part of a 400 acre tract owned (then) by Mr. & Mrs. C.K. Stacy. Frankie

I keep getting a little bit at a time, in bits and pieces, but always just a teeny bit shy of what I need. My Mary Patrick seems to have been Mary Wilson Patrick, widow of Elias Patrick. From what I've been finding this morning, it looks like on February 28, 1829, Elias committed suicide by shooting himself with a flintlock rifle in his own yard in Morgan County. The 1830 census (the one that listed her in the male section) shows they had 2 sons and 2 daughters. The 1820 Floyd County census showed them with 2 sons and 3 daughters. But the only names I'm finding for the children are Priscilla, Bryce, and Rebecca. Sharon Cox: you sent me an e-mail saying that The August 1829 Court Order Book told of a sheriff's auction of Elias's estate. Can you tell me if that order names any of his children??
