Barb Made the trek today and was it a trip. The cemetery is located on Smith Creek, but you turn right just past Conley's grocery, then the fun starts, Loren Conley told me go to the first road that turns to the left, well of course me being raised in Ky, I thought that road was a deer path and went on. After a couple of miles of driving over the hill, went all the way to where the fox hunters go, and then my sister in law walked another few thousand feet over the hill because he said it was over the hill, found nothing, started back too the highway, and then we decided to turn up the deer trail, well what a surprise, after going about a half mile the road ended if you could call it a road, so we decided to get out and look around, lo and behold after a few feet we could see a tombstone sticking up. That was William E. Bonds confederate marker. When we got down there it was a rather large cemetery considering where it was located. (Flat on the side of large hill). There were numerous graves most all marked with stones, the only other ones who had markers were Shiloh Conley and Tennie Conley and a Robert L Cox who died in 1955. There was also I believe a Knox but wouldn't swear to it, as I didn't write it down. This was on William Bond's marker. Pvt William E. Bond Co A 13 Ky Cav. CSA May 19, 1839 August 19, 1907. I took pictures of this and tried to get the whole cemetery which I will share with you when they are developed. Tennie was Easter Tennessee Bell Bond Conley she was a great aunt of my sister in law which is why I had company. Never in all my days would I have dreamed a cemetery existed where we found it. This is after we visited 3 other cemeteries on Smith Creek before we stopped and asked Loren where it was. What an evening. Barbara I looked in the Cemetery book for Morgan and none of your names are listed so I am assuming this cemetery hasn't been logged yet, if I can I will try to get over there this week-end, and see what I can find. Dorothy - RE: Mary Jane Elam Crace Do you have the details of Mary Jane's Elam ancestors? If not - I do - a convergence all the way back to William "Billie" Cannon Elam and way beyond. I just reviewed this Elam line in my Family Tree Maker and it is fairly closely related to my Mother's line and is quite close (nearly the same) as the Elam of a lady who currently lives in Salyersville. I helped her establish this a few weeks ago. If you wish to have this information - then please let me know. Hi Everyone, Earlier this year... Harold and Henrietta took me to the McKinney Cemetery. I forgot to get the GPS coordinates. Does anyone have them. I know "approximately" where the cemetery IS and I think I could find it again.... but I'd like to mark it precisely on my Street Atlas USA software. Henrietta does not have email. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
