3. One more thing about about Nancy. I was reading that there are some records in the Fleming County archives about Samuel Auxier including an estate appraised by Robert Brown, John Brown and Thomas Brown in 1799. Now I can guess who Thomas was but who were Robert and John? Was John the father of James Brown married to Nancy Auxier? Robert is a new lead for me to look into and I'm pretty excited. He may just open up several mysteries about Nathaniel. I'll let you know what I find. Also, don't you just wish that that bible record of Sarah's said daughter of Nathaniel Brown and Ann ______. You have told me what you think. Enoch or Innes (with a Cresap mother)? If its Enoch, I would get a second Friend line of descendancy as Ann Enoch's grandmother was a Friend. AND my last question. Sarah's children all seem to be named after someone. John Neville Auxier, Frances Amelia Auxier (did you know there was a Frances Amelia NEVILLE.... but not the wife of Daniel Brown), Nathaniel Boone Auxier.... etc..... Who do you think Samuel LEWIS Auxier was named after? Elijah? Mary Barbara? Thanks! ---------- > From: Naaman Nickell <[email protected]> > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: Morgan Co Cemeteries > Date: Wednesday, December 02, 1998 9:27 PM > > Judith: I jumping in here because Laura and I exchanged a note or two > about Nancy Auxier when we were on Prodigy. 3. Naaman's note made me think of one last question everyone might want to ponder. Who is the Thompson family that Nancy Auxier is living with? Its important because the Neville family married and had deallings a great deal with a Thompson family in Virginia. Thanks!

    3. Naaman, we talked about this. Thanks, I had forgotten. That was on my disk that crashed so I didn't have it. I'm still saving that disk, hoping to reconstruct it. JUDITH, I have a very bad copy of some bible pages. On one page is the name NATHANIEL AUXIER under "births" at the top of one column and at the top of the second column is the name "Samuel Auxier". I think I can just make out Enoch Auxier as well and a date under Samuel of 1791. I'd have to do some heavy thinking to remember who sent this copy to me but I'm sure you have it. Is there anyway to get a better copy? On the second page there is the title "Family Record". Under Marriages is Sarah Brown the daughter of Nathaniel Brown and Ann his wife was born January .......(unreadable) in the year of our lord 1765 and was married to Samuel Auxier...........1779. (Wow! she was only 14!) Who was the Nancy Auxier that Naaman has born around 1763? Thanks. { I'm sending this note to my mini list of Morgan County Brown researchers too. Some of them will get duplicates because they subscribe to the Morgan County list but many won't. Sorry if you do.} ---------- > From: Naaman Nickell <[email protected]> > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: Morgan Co Cemeteries > Date: Wednesday, December 02, 1998 9:27 PM > > Judith: I jumping in here because Laura and I exchanged a note or two > about Nancy Auxier when we were on Prodigy. 2. Joe, I like the idea of the Polaroid camera to make sure you have the photo of the headstone before leaving. The cassette recorder is a good idea also. I also carry, in case I have trouble, a cell phone and pepper mace for mean dogs. You are absolutely correct about specifying which cemetery you are recording. On my last trip into Johnson County, I was accompanied by a cousin who is also a pilot. He use a G.P.S. to measure longitude, latitude and altitude. He said that the roads change in Kentucky, but the position of the cemeteries rarely do. Judith

    3. Judith, I don't have anything on the AUXIER family but I'm curious about your ROBERSON line. My great-aunt, Frances HAMILTON, (b. abt 1897, d. June 28, 1971) married a Floyd ROBERSON. They lived in Ezel. Frances death cert shows Ezel Cemetery so I'm assuming (not a good idea, I know) that Floyd might be there too. Do you know anything about Floyd? 3. Me too (keeping me dizzy that is). What is worse is that Nancy's children and grandchildren used the same names as Francis Asbury Brown's children and grandchildren and the two families intermarried as well. My Brown information is a mess! I was excited to find my aunt's notebook last week. She did most of it on her own but my wonderful husband drove us down a dirt track or two also. I plan to pick up copies of it the next time I get to Atlanta (where my folks live). Anyone can check my A KENTUCKY BARBER'S SHOP and see my lineage and also the relocation of the graves from Morgan,Bath, Menifee, and Rowan counties when the Cave Run Dam was constructed. I try to put all info, I have online for all to use, as long as it isn,t infringing on copyrights. My great grandad Jesse Barber was an active citizen in Morgan Co. prior to and during the Civil War. He owned some sort of mill and carding factory there, but was burned out during the war. I would like to find out more about those years and wonder if there was a newspaper at that time that has any stories about it. Also would like to know where my great grandma, nancy (ABBOTT) Barber, Jesse's wife is buried there. She died when or right after my grandpa Clay Barber was born July 12 1862. 3. I certainly wasn't trying to be critical. As I said before I was being dim ( a usual thing for me this time of year!) I'm in the middle of church food pantry and other Christmas missions stuff, library book buying for our the non existent one at our local middleschool, homeschool semester reports from 150 families, hand making all my gifts for Christmas, setting out the next phase of my veg. garden and being a PBS widow (my husband is expected to volunteer pledge drive at night and weekends and still work his day job for our local PBS station) while still trying to homeschool my two oldest boys and entertain my three year old. So there's my excuse. Sorry if I irritated. My genealogy library is 30 some miles away and I don't get much of a chance to more than look longingly at it when I'm checking out books for the kids. Since KY is only halfway respectable to my "Southern History Library" there aren't that many resources on hand for Morgan County KY anyway! I belong the greatest list. If you would like to get a lesson on how to get a great list going that is actively involved in helping everyone on it find something about their family, subscribe to the Neville list for a few weeks. Anytime a primary resource is found about a Neville, its put up. Everyone on the list has a tremendous spirit of cooperation and helpfulness. They seem to be only interested in constructing an accurate family history. They have made leaps and bounds in a year even though there are several unconnected Neville families being work on at once. (This list is also great because just about every progenitor of every old (pre 1830's)Morgan county family is discussed sooner or later on that list. AND they are discussed by true genealogists that dig up the records and analyze everything carefully). NOW! If you have read this far, could I make a final suggestion? I used to put together a directory of eastern KY genealogists. It was actually just a compilation of ahnentafels. What I'd like to suggest is that each researcher reading this list post their tiny tafel or ahnentafel so that we can all see who is looking at what when and where. That way, cooperation is a little easier and maybe less confusing. We could post a reminder once in a while for the new folks to post theirs and old members to repost if they need to update. I for one only have a hazy picture of who on this list needs help with what. I would be more likely to post information I came upon if I knew it was helping someone. ---------- > From: REMeyer <[email protected]> > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: Ezel Cemetery - HAMILTON > Date: Tuesday, December 01, 1998 11:29 PM > > Ok, gang, I certainly didn't aim to start a big debate on the Nickell books. > I only asked for info on Ezel Cemetery.
