Good morning webbers and Happy New Year! I would appreciate a lookup if anyone has the following information: Do you have a copy of, "Riding the Blue Goose?" My mother rode it when she attended school in Grayson, KY. She lived in Leon and went to Christian Normal in Grayson, graduated from there abt. 1929. She has told me other stories about it and I would love to get the book for her if it covers history around where she caught and rode the train. Also, I'm interested in the book, "The U.S. Postal Service." My grandfather was, I think postmaster, at Hitchens/Leon? His name was Archie M. Lewis. Do you find his name listed? Maybe I have the wrong counties, but when I told my mom about the book, "The Blue Goose," she got very excited. So before I buy it, I would like to know if any of it has to do with where she rode it. Thanks very much for your help. Jane
This man is sounding more fascinating all the time! I, too, have "rounders" in my family (Don't we all?!!) and I often think about something I read one time to the effect we love and revere our ministers, college professors, etc., but often it's these rogues/rounders/blacksheep that some families try to hide that infuse our family lines with daring and courage and generations later, we remember them: they're bigger than life. I think these stories should be kept alive. I also read that a person doesn't die until the last person speaks his or her name. He was born almost 200 years ago, his name is still being spoken, we're fascinated by him...and he still lives! And I think that's part of immortality. It's Christmas Eve and I hear the quiet descending. Have a wonderful Holiday Season everyone! My great great great grandfather is David LYKINS, Born 1791, Died 22 April 1882 in Morgan County. I have been led to believe he was known as a "rounder", "wild" and "a source of much embarrassment" to his parents. I further understand his "shenanigans" are still being talked about today. Can someone tell me where I can find further information about these matters. Thanks J. O. Hughes

Hi all! I wanted to thank everyone that has sent me their homepage URL's to add to the Morgan page. I had a little free time today before I start making Christmas cookies with my boys and have added all that were sent to me onto the page. Now for all of you that have homepages with Morgan Co. connections, please send them to me so I can get them onto the page. Having your page online shows off your family tree as well as helps others who may be researching the same names. I will add your pages as soon as I can. Thanks to all of you who have been patient with me. I will get the bigger stuff added onto the page after the holidays. Enjoy your holiday with your family and friends....a perfect time to capture special moments and add info into your tree. Deanna Levito CC Morgan

The dining room table with clutter was spread With pedigree charts and with letters which said... "Too bad about the data for which you wrote; Sank in a storm on an ill-fated boat." Stacks of old copies of wills and such Were proof that my work had become too much. Our children were nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of sugarplums danced in their heads. And I at my table was ready to drop >From work on my album with photos to crop. Christmas was here, and such was my lot That presents and goodies and toys I'd forgot. Had I not been busy with grandparents'wills, I'd not have forgotten to shop for such thrills, While others bought gifts to bring Christmas cheers, I'd spent time researching those birthdates and years. While I was thus musing about my sad plight, A strange noise on the lawn gave me such a great fright. Away to the window I flew in a flash, Tore open the drapes and yanked up the sash. When what with my wondering eyes should appear, But an overstuffed sleigh and eight small reindeer. Up to the house top the reindeer they flew, With a sleigh full of toys and 'ole Santa Claus, too. And then in a twinkle, I heard on the roof The prancing and pawing of thirty-two hoofs. As I drew in my head, and bumped it on the sash, Down the cold chimney fell Santa--KER-RASH! "Dear" Santa had come from the roof in a wreck, And tracked soot on the carpet, (I could wring his short neck!) Spotting my face, good 'ole Santa could see I had no Christmas spirit you'd have to agree. He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work And filled all the stockings, (I felt like a jerk). Here was Santa, who'd brought us such gladness and joy: When I'd been too busy for even one toy. He spied my research on the table all spread "A genealogist! " He cried! (My face was all red!) "TonightI've met many like you," Santa grinned, As he pulled from his sack a large book he had penned. I gazed with amusement--the cover it read Genealogy Lines for Which You Have Plead. "I know what it's like as a genealogy bug." He said as he gave me a great Santa hug. "While the elves make the sleighful of toys I now carry, I do some research in the North Pole Library! A special treat I am thus able to bring, To genealogy folk who can't find a thing." "Now off you go to your bed for a rest, I'll clean up the house from this genealogy mess. As I climbed up the stairs full of gladness and glee, I looked back at Santa who'd brought much to me. While settling in bed, I heard Santa's clear whistle, To his team, which then rose like the down of a thistle. And I heard him exclaim as he flew out of sight, "Family history is Fun! Merry Christmas! Goodnight!" ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ==== KYGEN Mailing List ==== GenConnect Query System http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/index.html --part0_914251602_boundary--
