    2. Thanks everyone for responding to the email I sent about Bob Dennis looking for info on anyone that could help him find the Ezel Cemetery in Morgan. However, I had asked if you respond to his email addy that I included in the posting and not mine. He is not a member of the Morgan Mailing list so he has no clue we are posting responses to his request. I have emailed him personally and have already given him the best suggestions I could ....(same as Laura's) and told him I would post this onto the Morgan Mailing list and if anyone had any suggestions they could email him. So If anyone else has any ideas, please email him at [email protected] The Ezel Cemetery is listed in the Cemetery Records book by Nickell, however; no directions are given. Thanks everyone for jumping in to help. Deanna Morgan CC

Samuel >and Rachel married 13 Mar 1811 in Bath County, KY and I'm trying to find >out what happened to them and who their children were. Linda, I had always assumed that she was, but I have no proof. Just that she is the right age and living in the right place. According to the Bicentennial Edition of the Rowan County News, printed in 1956, two of the sons of Samuel Alfrey were Adam Alfrey who married Hester "Hettie" Ramey, and Fielding Alfrey who married Martha "Patsy" Johnson. Both were living in Rowan County in 1860. Rachel and Samuel are probably also the parents of Alfred H. Alfrey who married Mary Ann Bradshaw on 3 Feb 1840 in Morgan Co., and who was living next door to the widow Rachel Alfrey in 1850. Andrea Medard <[email protected]>, the moderator of this list (which I just joined today - thanks for inviting me in Andrea!), when she contacted me by email last July, also listed as siblings of Adam Alfrey and Fielding Alfrey: >George Alfrey (b. 1811; m. Louisa Lancaster - of Fleming Co. KY, > - 10 Sept 1829 Bath Co. KY; d. 9 Sept. 1852 Fleming Co. KY); >Barbara Alfrey (b. 1812 KY; m. Absolum Clark 1827-29 Bath Co.; > d. 27 Mar 1978 Sardorus Champaign, IL, buried in Rice Cemetery) Andrea gave the father of these four (Adam, Fielding, George & Barbara) as John instead of Samuel, which does not agree with the article in the Rowan County News. She did not mention Alfred H. Alfrey. There was a John Alfrey in Bath County who was the father of Elizabeth Alfrey who married Christopher Myers on 21 Apr 1814 in Bath Co., and of Rachel Alfrey who married Joseph Myers on 21 Oct 1816 in Bath Co. This John Alfrey seems to have children who were marrying at the same time that Samuel Alfrey married Rachel Cassity, so he might be Samuel's father instead of his brother. The article in the Rowan County News states "Vernon Alfrey, who furnished this family tree, had it all the way to the present day, but it numbers hundreds upon hundreds of living people." Does anybody know who now has the information collected by this Vernon Alfrey? My web site has pages for Fielding, Adam and Alfred, but it is pretty out-of-date. This site does not represent the current state of my database. 1. HAZELRIGG and CASSITY
    2. Linda Cassidy Lewis
    3. Elizabeth CASSITY was born 16 Apr 1808 KY and died 6 Feb 1879 Albany, MO. She married John West HAZELRIGG, supposedly, about 1843 probably in Morgan County, KY. They had at least one child, John Thomas Hazelrigg born 20 March 1844 in Morgan County. He married Nellie Ann JOHNSON in Rowan County, KY and they, and his mother apparently, moved to Missouri. Apparently Elizabeth and John divorced... or were never married... because he is living in a boarding house in 1850 Morgan County and married again later that year to Mary COLE. John West Hazelrigg may have also had two other wives; Harriett PHIFFS and Lucy WALSH. Can anyone provide any further info on these people? Linda Cassidy Lewis

    3. Howdy; I am looking for the parents and information about the family of James Burk, b. 1774. Also the parents of his spouse, Anna Robinson, b. 1789. They were married ca 1803 based on the Bible record birth of their first child in 1804. These folks were Russell County Va. residents from ca 1806 through the 1840 census when it appears that he and his family just fell off the earth. I have located a bit more about the children as noted below. I do not have birth places or death locations for the parents. Their children are: Barbara b. 1804 Thomas b. 1807 William b. 1809 in Va. m. Dicie Vencil. They had children in VA, Ohio and KY. Said to have died 1853 Springfield, Ill. Left descendants in Hancock County, KY Annie b. 1812 Sheffie b. 1814 Betsy b. 1816 Her name probably is Elizabeth James b. 1808 My line Thersa b. 1821 in VA. m. William Hurt, moved to Magoffin County, KY. I wonder if this William Hurt is the colonel commanding the 24th Ky. Inf.? Pollie b. 1823 Her name is probably Mary Charles W. b. 1828 may have married an Adams in Pike Co. KY Christina b. 1830 in Va. m. Elihu Joseph Hankins in Pike Co. KY but raised their family in Tazewell Co. VA. John Calvin b. 1833 Any help would be appreciated. David. M. Burke [email protected]

    3. Deanna, the best advice I could give this fella is to write the county seat (don't have an address because I've just stopped by when I go) and ask them for a map. They have wonderful, huge county maps. I think my Lawrence and Johnson County maps were $4. The maps are very detailed and include cemetaries. Its easy to get lost in Morgan County (I think) so a map is the best route to go even if you DO have directions! Also, don't the Nickell cemetary books have directions? When I got my maps I just ran up to the court house and asked around until someone who knew what I wanted was found for me. No problem.
