Does anyone know where Claypool Cemetery is? Should be either Bath or Morgan County. I have a death certificate showing this cemetery but no town listed - everyone else in the family is either in the Owingsville area (Bath County) or Ezel area (Morgan County).

Morgan County marriage records list marriage of John L. Link to Jane Alfrey on 21 Aug 1895. (He had been previously married to Rhoda Sexton, and also had a son John Tom Pettit by Elizabeth Pettit.) The marriage record is from the index book compiled by Gertrude Nickell; it does not give ages or any other details. 1900 Soundex index lists in Morgan Co., E.D. 76, p. 4, line 10: John L. Link, 64, July 1835; wife Nancy, 17, Sept 1882; son David H., 12, July 1887; boarder Preston Petitt, 26, Nov 1873. All born in Kentucky. (If the wife Nancy is the same as the Jane Alfrey whom he married in 1895 - and there is no other marriage record for John Link between 1895 and 1900 - then either her age here is wrong, or she was only 12 when she married 59-year-old John Link. I have not identified the parents of the boarder Preston Petitt, nor found him in any other census years. He is very likely another illegitimate son of John Link and Lizzie Pettit, but who raised him I don't know.) 1910 Soundex index lists in Morgan Co., index as 062 0152 0109: John L. Link, 74; wife Nancy J., 25; son David H., 22; dau-in-law Martha J., 15. All born in Kentucky. Note that the age for Nancy is two years younger than that implied by the 1900 census. Index to Kentucky death records lists Nancy Link, d. 29 Aug 1925, age 41, in Morgan Co., certificate Vol. 51, #25193. (This would imply a birthdate in about 1884, which is consistent with the 1910 census. But if this Nancy J. Link is the same as the Jane Alfrey who married John L. Link in 1895, it's hard to believe she'd be marrying at age 11. So the 1900 census is probably more correct.) Does anybody have easy access to either the Kentucky Death certificates or to Morgan County marriage license books to see who they list as the parents of Nancy Link? Since it appears she was born after 1880, and married before 1900, she won't appear in any census with her parents. I just received William H. H. Lewis' pension records. They have a Polly (looks like HICKS) as his wife. She filed for widow's benefits in 1895. They describe Wm as: 5 ft. 7 1/2 in.; complexion fair; hair, light; and eyes, blue. He was in excellent health when he joined the 54th KY vol. Sept, 1864. But took sick with fever Dec. 1864 at Bean Station, TN. Was in the hospital in Lexington then rejoined the army agian at Shelbyville, KY for 3 months. He was honorably discharged Sept. 1, 1865. He suffered greatly through the remaining years of his life with the effects of the mercury that was left in his system from treatments he received while in the army and from rhumetism and a urinary problem. Polly was blind at age 45. Does anyone know anything about a wife of his named Polly? She was 45 years old in 1895, when she filed for the Widow's Pension, making her born 1850 which was too young to be the mother of all of Wm's children. The document reads: "Oct. 12, 1895 Polly Lewis applied for widow's pension. She was 45 years old. Married by Marriss Crisp." It has a place for children, but none are listed. William Henry Harrison, b. 1813, d. 1895, is my gr gr grandfather and I have his wife as Elizabeth Henry. Anyone know about Polly? Thanks!

Linda, Sorry I can't help with the census. But seeing the name made me curious. That's the first time I've seen the name RAMEY other than my great-grandfather's middle name. He was Richard Ramey Hamilton and he was from Morgan County (around Ezel, I think). Any ideas?
