Me too! I want to hear also about what she has to say. This is getting good! lol. It is like watching a soap opera..lol
Ann, You took the liberty of chastising Laura, here in the public forum. Perhaps you could talk in the public forum of this list, instead of secretly talking e-mail, the rest of us wondering what is going on. We have a right to understand your logic, and for the life of me I don't. Buck
We have Lizzie Jane Brown born 5 Nov. 1883 Morgan County, Kentucky (my grand- mother who married Anderson Curtis Hughes). Her parents were Mary Etta Sorrell and Green Berry Brown (he born 29 Feb. 1861 Ky., died July 1938 Menifee County, Ky). His parents were Morgan & Nancy Hammons Brown of Va., then Morgan County, Kentucky. Father of Morgan was Braxton Brown (Rebecca Donnelson). Would like to be added to your mini list of Browns. Thank you Betty Hughes McKinney [email protected]
Laura, Can,t remember if I am on the Brown list or not. Sure hope I am. Thanks Charles Gillespie Laura McKenzie wrote: > Brown minilist members. This is not the appropriate place to list information for the Brown mini list.
Looking for information on MARSHALL's and QUESINBERRY's of Morgan Co., KY abt 1840 to present. Thanks [email protected]
Brown minilist members. I recently had a motherboard failure that caused me to lose a little bit of information *such as who are members of the Brown minilist*. I sent a note out yesterday to everyone I could think of and have reconstructed my mailbox and address book to start the list again but some addresses are probably lost. If you didn't get a note from me and want to keep getting updates of early Morgan County and Hampshire County Browns, please let me know so I can put you back on the list If you are not on the list but would like to be, just e-mail me with your Brown line (so I can post a query for you when you join). My Browns are: Thomas C. Brown (twice through Wallace William Brown married to Nancy Hill and Edy Brown married to Jesse Van Hoose), Nathaniel Brown (ca 1740 Hampshire Co) with daughter Sally Brown Auxier), James Brown (married to sally's daughter, Nancy), and Samuel Brown (daughter Frances Brown Friend lived in Johnson Co Ky).
The Morgan Mailing List is now under new ownership. Any questions, comments, thoughts, suggestions, etc., pertaining to this list should be directed to : [email protected] Thanks, Ann Lemaster Applegate Asst. Morgan County Coordinator
The plot thickens! Evidently, since you say Isaac remarried in 1852, he and Honor must have divorced. She is listed in the 1850 Morgan Co. KY census with exactly the children you named. But the child Margaret is 15 years old in 1850 so if Isaac and Honor married in 1840, Margaret must not have been Isaac and Honor's daughter. I still need to find the marriage record for Honor Cassity and Unknown Fugate before 1840. Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hello Carolyn, I have received a series of emails tonight, which included three or so from you. As you must know I quite amused at the fact I suddenly became "the late Harley Little" who transcribed the 1850 Census of Morgan County, Kentucky. Since I am not sure of the email addresses of those persons with whom you are in contact with, you may pass on to them that I am still alive and that I am the one and same Harley S. Little of Dayton, Ohio, now residing in Jackson, Ohio since my retirement. While on the subject, I still can get together an 1850 Census of Morgan Co., KY for $15.00 and the 1850 Census of Breathitt Co., KY for $15.00. The Wolfe Co., KY Census is available for $10.00, all postpaid, should any one desire a copy. As you know the 1850 of Morgan County is a very useful item for anyone doing research on that county, Wolfe and Menifee Counties, etc. Perhaps I have mentioned it before, but I was born in Trimble Bend, Menifee Co., KY on Feb. 6, 1928, to Wm. Everett Little and Josephine Lawson, both of Wolfe County, KY, and both born in the late 1880s. The area where I was born was once owned by David Shelton Trimble whose first wife was Mariah 'Sugar' Swango, b. 1824 and d. 1859, the daughter of Abraham Swango and Deborah Ogden, and a sister of my Great Grandfather George Washington Swango. Thus the Trimble name was handed down to that area. David or Shelt as he was known was the son of William Trimble a founder of Hazel Green, Wolfe Co., KY. I am very familiar with all the area of Morgan, Wolfe, Menifee, Bath, Montgomery and Breathitt Counties in Kentucky. My Little family is spread all over the entire area and one major branch of this family was involved in the early feuds of Breathitt County. I particularly like going back to Wolfe County however and visiting. Sometimes I am amazed when people take our surnames from eastern Kentucky and render a new spelling, thinking we have spelled them incorrectly. One name, CANNOY, was taken and changed to CONNOR, and then was entered into a massive World Family Tree file which will no doubt last forever. Of course errors will and do happen. Looking forward to hearing from you and feel free to pass on the fact I am very much alive. My first cousin, Harley Elmer Little is deceased. He lived at Pomeroyton, Menifee Co., KY. My best wishes to you and family, Harley :):) --------------55263B73D5E18CDF047711E9--
Could you be looking for Isaac Shelby Fraley and Honor Fugate Fraley? Their children were Margaret, Emily, Marcus G., William and Taylor. Isaac and Isaac Shelby married in 1840. Shelby (listed as Shelvey in the 1850 Lawrence Co census) then married Elizabeth Lynn in 1852, one child Louvinia Fraley. -----Original Message----- From: Linda Cassidy Lewis <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Friday, February 26, 1999 9:47 AM Subject: FRALEY 1860 Morgan Co. census >Could someone who has the 1860 census do a quick lookup for me? Hello, I'm looking for the family of James Maddix. Excuse my butting in, but you asked about the Births, Deaths, Marriages of all the counties in Ky. The state archives has these on microfilm which you can purchase. About 15 years ago they were about $11.00 each. They are arranged in alphabetical order, and you usually get about three counties on each roll. I bought several of them back then. The one for Morgan County is Morgan Co. through Nelson Co and runs from 1852 - 1910. The years are very sporadic. You might get 1852 through 1857 and then it might jump to 1873. Nothing is alphabetized, so it is a matter of putting in on a reader and just going down the page. I have gotten a ton of information from mine. Linda, So, you've sparked my curiousity. Can you tell us what else you know about James & Mary Honor FRALEY, and why you suspected a link to the CASSITY family? Do you have any data that would clarify which of these marriages, if either, is for the widow Honor FRALEY who was age 31 in the 1850 Morgan Co census? Isaac FRALEY m Honour FUGATE, 10 May 1840 in Morgan Co. KY Jas FRALEY m. Mary CASSIDY, 4 Mar 1839 in Floyd Co. KY (The Margaret age 15 in 1850 is possibly the daughter of Honor's husband and a previous wife of his.) James FRALEY and Nancy KEETON who married on 5 Aug 1830 in Morgan Co were the parents of Harvey FRALEY born ca 1844, who married my great-great- grandmother Mary Susan (RIDDLE) PETTIT as her second husband, when she was 68. I don't know where James & Nancy were in 1850 or 1860; they are not in Morgan or Rowan county. I should probably check Carter and Floyd. -- Teri
Barb, Do you have an address for the Salyersville, KY Historical Society? I need to get in touch with those folks. Barb Magoffin Co has a beautiful old log cabin complex in Salyersville Ky. that they use for the Historical Society. They do have books of all kind for sale, they are listed on their web page. Min. http://members.xoom.com/Magoffin/home/ I hope this works, sometimes I leave out something.
I just want to say thank you for all the prompt and helpful replies to my posts today. As usual the members of this list are the BEST!!! Linda Cassidy Lewis
Linda, Some more marriage records you might want: David FANNIN m. Cynthia FRALEY, 10 Dec 1846 in Morgan Co. KY (I can't find a prior marriage record for a FRALEY groom and a bride named Cynthia. It should be about 1841 judging by the age of Susan FRALEY age 8 in 1850 with the David FANNIN family.) Wilson FRALEY m. Priscilla FULTS, 24 Dec 1846 in Carter Co. KY Jas FRALEY m. Mary CASSIDY, 4 Mar 1839 in Floyd Co. KY (!) Jas FRALEY m. Catherine FRIEND, 15 Sep 1839 in Floyd Co. KY Jas FRILEY m. Patsy J. LAWHORN, 2 Nov 1832 in Floyd Co. KY (About 10 other FRALEY/FRILEY marriages in Floyd Co., but not with the given names later seen in Morgan County, in particular, no Frederick & Barbara. No other FRALEY/CASSITY marriages.)
Hi Terri & Linda, I have Fraley's in Elliott, Carter & Lawrence Co.KY. On 1850 Lawrence Co census is: #277 Isaac Fraley age 72 married to Katharine age 62. In the same household in Fairlina 21, Shelvey 34, Emily 9, Marcus G 6. @278 Alexander Fraley 24, Susanah 24, IsaacJR 3, and Harvey F 1. @279 James Fraley 37, Jemima 30, George W 13, Andrew C 11, Eleanor 9, David 5, Brittain 3, James R 1. >Teri, >You called him the "late" Harley Little. When did he die? I hadn't heard >that. >Norma Adams Somebody mentioned it on this list. I didn't save the message, and don't remember the details. I think it referred to him not by name, but as "the guy from Ohio who transcribed the 1850 census of Morgan Co."
