Deanna, The book is "The Wright Connection" by Negetha Powers. It was printed in June 1985. Inside the book are these addresses: Negetha Powers 111 Heather Dr. Bristol, VA 24201 Mullins Printing Company Clintwood, PA 24228 I don't remember for sure, but I think I bought the book from Negetha Powers about 5 or so years ago. I was wondering if anyone else had trouble with the query board not posting the entire contents of their notes. One of my messages posted without most of its contents.
I would love to know more about William Clark b.ca 1760 and married in Montgomery Co VA to Jane Ferguson d/o Samuel. Their daughter, Sarah, married Levi Van Hoose. It would help me with migration patterns to know where Clark originated and a little more about his family. Any Clark researchers? I also like to know about Samuel as well. Many thanks! Laura
Does anyone have any knowledge of the "Uncle Joe Hill" Cemetery that was located either in the Relief or Patoaker area of Morgan County? I am trying to find the exact location of this cemetery and whether or not is was one of the many cemeteries that was forced to relocate during the lake Project. I am unsure if this was the proper name for the cemetery or just a nickname given by family. I do know that burials in this cemetery included Hill, Rowland, adn Adams families. Thanks in advance! Ann
Ann, Have you checked the following for the names? <A HREF="http://members.aol.com/haybarber/MorganCo.html">List # 3 Morgan Co. </A> <A HREF="http://members.aol.com/HayBarber/MenifeeCo.html">List # 2 Menifee Co. Relocatio</A> . Harley
Carolyn, Since we don't have Harley Little's email address, could you please forward this message to him? Thanks! --------------------- Re: >As you must know I quite amused at the fact I suddenly became "the >late >Harley Little" who transcribed the 1850 Census of Morgan County, >Kentucky. Harley, I'm the person who most recently perpetrated this error, and apologize sincerely for my part in it. I'm very glad to hear the rumor was false! I was only repeating what somebody else said on the list several months ago; perhaps that person saw your cousin's name listed in an obituary, online death record, or other source and jumped to conclusions. >I am very familiar with all the area of Morgan, Wolfe, Menifee, Bath, >Montgomery and Breathitt Counties in Kentucky. My Little family is >spread all >over the entire area and one major branch of this family was involved in >the early feuds of Breathitt County. I particularly like going back to >Wolfe County however and visiting. Do you have any information on Wolfe County Criminal Court records from the mid 1800's? My great-great-grandfather, George Martin Hall (1837-1900) of Morgan and Rowan counties, was tried in Wolfe Co in 1868 for the murder of his brother Isaac Hall Jr. Morgan County KY Civil and Criminal Court Order Book 10 (1867-1869), records on page 83, "Commonwealth vs George Hall, Charge of Murder, Bail set for $2500.00. Thomas E. Lewis of Morgan County and J. M. Lewis of Rowan County appeared in open court. George Hall to appear in Wolfe Circuit Court 1st day next term." and on page 84, the same actions as above for George's son Ben Hall. On the back of the indictments is an annotation "May Term, 1868. By petition of George Hall, Ben Hall, James Hall, Wiley C. Roberts and F. Alfrey venue changed to Wolfe County." I believe he was either acquitted or pardoned, because he is free in the 1870 census, but it would be great to be able to find an actual record of the verdict. See this web page for details of the pre-trial hearings in Morgan County: http://www.best.com/~tpettit/rowan/ikehall.html I've heard that Wolfe County Criminal Court records before 1912 were burnt in a court house fire, but often such losses are partial. With your interest in Wolfe County and the history of feuds, I thought you might have direct knowledge of whether any criminal court records from this period survived. -- Teri Pettit

This is the LAST posting I will be making re: Brown mini list. This has blown way out of proportion. The purpose of the Morgan County Mailing list is asking for and sharing information on our Morgan County ancestry. This includes asking and sharing info on locations in Morgan County, etc. However, it does not include making postings that are specifically directed to members of other mailing lists. Had a posting been made stating that a list had been formed for those researching the surname "X" and those interested in joining that list could do so by sending a private e-mail to the founder of the list, nothing would have been said. Sending a posting to Morgan List or any other county list that is specifically for members of another list of any type, is inappropriate. That business would have best been handled through private e-mail. If anyone feels the need to address this issue further, please do so via private e-mail. My address is: [email protected] Ann
I did not chastise..I made a statement.
Laura, Have sent a reply to by private e-mail. Ann
What about it is not appropriate? I ask so that all know the rules you have decided for this list. Thanks, Laura -----Original Message----- From: Ann Lemaster- Applegate <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Sunday, February 28, 1999 3:20 PM Subject: Re: Brown minilist >This is not the appropriate place to list information for the Brown mini >list. > >
Ann, excuse me. Since the Browns were for MORGAN County Browns, I thought it would be ok. -----Original Message----- From: Ann Lemaster- Applegate <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Sunday, February 28, 1999 3:20 PM Subject: Re: Brown minilist >This is not the appropriate place to list information for the Brown mini >list. > >
Ann, So you made a statement, and if your convictions were to go public with them, yet go private with a public announcement of it, is not forthcoming. You can control what you say but this type of behavior indicates to me you don't have strong convictions of your accusations. If it's bad what Laura did, perhaps you could enlightened me, because of my inability to understand. Do what you want, because I know you will Buck
