Hi, I just recently found out that my great-great-great grandmother was an amyx. I am interested in what you found. Thank you for sharing. Paula Bowling Hansen [email protected]
This is pretty normal. States started doing keeping vital statistics at different times, but 1890s-1920 is the most common period. It's a bit different for births and deaths in many state. Oldest of vital records usually are marriage records. Terry At 06:15 PM 5/15/99 EDT, you wrote: >Is there such a thing? Several volumes of the Morgan County Vital Statistics are now online on the Morgan County GenWeb site. http://www.rootsweb.com/~kymorgan/morgan2.htm Ann Lemaster-Applegate Assistant MorganCC
For whatever reasons and I forgot why. But the Xenia Library in Xenia, Ohio has many papers on or about Morgan Co. Ky. Haven't been there but know someone who has, and he claims the material is very good there. Buck
When I was in Morgan Co. a few years back I found a few Vital Statists dating back to mid 1800s. You might try writing to the Morgan Co. Court House. Also the KY. Historical Society in Frankfort has some records dating back that far.
For a couple years, 1854-6 I believe, some vitals were kept at county level. Most of these records are on microfilm. I had seen the Morgan County vitals a few years ago at an LDS Family History Center. I was just hoping someone had these in book form for a quick lookup. If anyone does have access to those vital stats, I am lookingfor the deaths of Laney Ellis JENKINS and Nancy Combs JENKINS, both of whom I believe who last appear in the 1870 Morgan Co census. Joye
Is there such a thing? I wrote to KY for a death certificate for Thomas R. Loveless who died sometime in the 1860's and they wrote back that there was no records kept until 1907 or something.
Does anyone have the Morgan Co. KY vitals and could tell me the date of death of a John Cassity, age 74, in 1853? I have been given two different dates: 23 January and 29 July. Linda Cassidy Lewis [email protected]

As I have clearly stated before, this is NOT a sounding board for the Brown mini-list. I trust that in my absence, this discussion will be held via private e-mail. Ann Lemaster-Applegate Morgan List Owner
Friends, Just sending this post to let you know I will be away for a few days. My dear, sweet, beautiful Mammaw passed away Wednesday evening. If you have sent e-mail in the past couple of days, please bear with me. I will get them answered by the end of next week. Hope each of you have a great day of research! Ann
My sincere sympathy. I am so sorry. Joye
Hi, I'd be glad to share what I have and if you'd like to join in on the search for the origins of the Eastern KY Brown families, you can join our "minilist" (folks send a note to me and using my address book, I send it out to everyone who has asked to be a part of the collaborative effort.) Please let me know if you are interested in Eastern KY Browns in the 1800-1900's or in the Brown families of early VA (1600-1700's) (or both). I'd help you better if I knew what end name you have (the oldest Brown of the line(s) you are researching.) For example my end names are Thomas C. Brown b. 1761 (+ Mary Illiff), Nathaniel Brown b. ca 1741(+ Anne Enoch), James Brown b. ca 1780 (+ Nancy Auxier... Nathaniel's grandaughter), Samuel Brown b. ca 1760 (+ Rachel Crow). -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Thursday, May 06, 1999 7:43 PM Subject: Re: Brown information to share >We have the Brown surname, would like to exchange and get information. >
I have received the Brown list but can find no matches. All I have is my paternal great grandmother, Sarah Annie Brown, born 1857 Morgan County Kentucky who married Frances Marion Carter, had 6 children, died 1-14-1906 and is buried at Grassy Lick. Does anybody have anything which matches? Bette Jo Gevedon Whetstone or [email protected]
Ann, Sorry to hear of your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Bette Gevedon Whetstone
