Ann, Thank you for the library info. Another question. Do you know what the name of the cemetery is off of Prestonburg St. It is on the opposite side of the street from the dairy queen, creamy whip or whatever it is called. It is next to what used to be Kentucky Oil Co. My grandfather lived in the little white house out front. Trucks used to get weighed on a scale right in front of his house. The Nickell's (sp) lived next door. I have pictures from the cemetery, but don't know the name of it. I believe the little white house is now a clothes shop or consignment shop. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Sharon , Thank you for the info. I don't have a copy of the Morgan Co. Books except 1860 and part of that info is not in the 1860 book. I appreciate your help. Barbara
Barbara, In the 1850 Morgan County census index in the book "Selections From Morgan County History," by Helen Price Stacy and Wm. Lynn Nickell, there is a household listed for Richard Lamasters. It's number 525 (which I think is just their numbering, not the household number): Richard Lamasters 22 Ky. Catherine 23 Benjamin 1 Nearby is: 514 Lancaster Lamasters 45 Ky. Rachael 53 Va. John 25 Ky. Martha 21 Francis (M) 17 Daniel 15 Elizabeth 13 Sarah 10 Alexander Lamasters 20 Ky. There are also these in 872: George HANKS 33 Ky. Jamima 22 Ky. Fielding 3 Jacob 2 Lydia 1 Hiram MILLER 70 Va. Benjamin LAMASTERS 32 Ky. Elizabeth " 25 Ky. John " 11 Ky. John " 9 Ky. Jamima " 7 Ky. Elizabeth " 3 Ky Nancy " 1 Ky. In 1114: John LAMASTERS 36 Elizabeth 34 Winston 15 Amanda 9 Meredith (M) 5 Francis (M) 4 Sarah 1 In 1131: John LAMASTERS 35 Ky. Rebecca 35 Benjamin 12 Sarah 10 Micha (F) 8 James 6 Joseph 4 Have you checked the Morgan County marriages on-line? There is this one: MARRIAGE GROOM BRIDE OFFICIATING DATE OFFICER February 21, 1848 Richard Lemaster Catherine Cantrill William Brown There are other Lemaster marriages at http://www.doitnow.com/~moravia/morm2159.txt Hope this helps. Ann, Thanks very much for the info on Richard Lemaster. I was wondering if you or anyone else out there would know the names of the siblings of Richard Lemaster. Barbara, I am sorry, I never received the e-mails from you concerning Richard Lemaster that married Catherine Cantrell. I also have Richard as being born Abt. 1828 and Catherine in 1827. I have Catherine's parents as John Cantrell and Margaret "Peggy" Smith. I have Richard's parents Lancaster Lemaster and Rachel Phillips. Lancaster is the son of Eleazor Lemaster and Rachel Remy. I do not know the birth place of Richard but do know that the majority of his 7 children were born in Morgan County. Hope this helps a little! Ann

Hi Ann, I have e-mailed you at your personal e-mail a couple of times and ask you if you knew any information on Richard Lemaster. He is my g-g-grandfather. I don't know if the e-mail got lost somewhere a long the line so I am e-mailing you through the Morgan Co. List in hopes you can help me with some information. Richard was born around 1828, but I don't know if he was born in Morgan Co. or Johnson Co. He was married to Catherine Cantrell and I have been told by some that he is the son of James Lemaster and by others that he is the son of Lewis Lemaster. James and Lewis are both sons of Eleazer and Rachel [Ramey] Lemaster. I have a copy of the Lemaster USA Book, compiled by Howard Marshall Lemaster but it does not mention who is the father of Richard Lemaster. I know we are connected through the line of the Lemasters, [and Esteps and Cantrells and some others] so I thought if anyone would know who Richards father is , you would. You can e-mail me at my personal e-mail if you choose too. It is [email protected] Sorry this is so long. I hope it doesn't bother anyone because it is. Thank you Ann, Barbara Estep-Holbrook
Hi gang! I ran this by Ann first to make sure it was OK to post this to the list and she agreed whole heartedly. Below is a link to view the Buffington Island Petition. This petition is to stop construction of a gravel site on this historic Battlefield. This battlefield in Meigs Co., Ohio is also a burial place for 60 + soldiers in unmarked graves. This gravel company has said they will save 40 acres of land where they think they are all buried, but are definitely not sure of the exact whereabouts. Gen. John Hunt Morgan is mentioned throughout our Kentucky history. Some of us may have ancestors that rode with John Hunt Morgan and may be buried there in these unknown graves. I ask that you please at least read this petition. If you feel as strongly against this as myself and Ann do, then please sign it and pass it on to anyone else you may know that would like to know more about it. This Civil War battlefield is very close to my grandparents home in Vinton Co., Ohio. I haven't been there in years. But now since I am researching my ancestors and their backgrounds, I feel this is very wrong what these people want to do with this historic land. We may not be standing up for our ancestors, but someone else's! http://www.PetitionOnline.com/Buff/petition.html Thanks for your time, Deanna Levito & Ann Lemaster-Applegate

A spam is an unsolicited e-mail usually about a holiday get away or a get rich quick scheme... Rootsweb is very good about blocking these from the mailing lists but once in a while, one will slip through the filters. Ann
Ann, I got it just a bit ago, but it did not come through the Morgan Co. list. I have another email that it come on though. Some of the lookup sites I am listed on use that address for me. I just delete it! Have a nice afternoon!
