Also found him in the 1890 veterans census living in Cedar Grove, Slate district no 4, Menifee county, served in company F 23rd KY Inf, shot through the foot. I can't believe how many Wills there were in Menifee County. My husband's dad lived there as a boy and hubby visited his granparents there as a child. We are researching a Wills line also, but don't think this is the same line. Here is what I have, keep in mind I am new to this. Well, I should say a beginner, since I've been at it really a while, but have young children so don't get to do it much. William Wills Sr. (hubby's 6th gr. grandfather? and our brick wall) "found William Wills and Elizabeth Stone. William was born abt. 1722 in Albemarle, Va. and died in 1805 in Clark Co. KY. Maybe his GFather or GG Grandfather was the one from England. In 1643 I found records of William Wills of Scituate, Mass. buying land there. This name William was passed down several times. Hope we can connect all these Williams." Frederick William Wills - His son our direct ancestor Frederick William WILLS (1742-1796) -- was a corporal in the Albemarle County, Virginia Volunteers who marched to Williamsburg on May 2, 1775 to demand the return of the Colony's gunpowder by Lord Dunmore, royal governor of Virginia. Frederick served the Revolutionary cause again when he was drafted into the Continental Army in 1779 for eighteen months. While on a march to Richmond, Captain Muckelwain (McLewaine?) gave Frederick permission to substitute his eldest son, William Wills, for completion of his tour of duty. Frederick also assisted the Continental Army as a patriot by providing nine days service and his horse to collect beaves/beeves. Frederick married Frances Durrett (bef 1750 - 1831) in Fredericksville Parish, Albemarle County, Virginia before 1765.
