My brick wall ( and believe me, I have one) is the fact that for years I searched the COONS family in Kentucky. I have the marriage certificate of my Martin COONS, Sr. m. Mary (Polly) LOCKE, April5, 1796. I THOUGHT Martin's parents were Jacob COONS and Letitia KEMPER.....but along comes a fellow who says I'm wrong and he has a Martin COONS m. Polly LOCKE, but with Adam & Dolly COONS as parents. I also have documentation that Martin COONS, Sr. and wife, Polly lived during the 1840s in Hamilton County, IL and Martin allegedly was lost from a boat on the Mississippi in 1846. His wife, Polly, is buried in Hamilton County, IL. But, now I don't know who his parents were. Could someone please help me? Maybe some information on Polly Locke would help also. I'd be happy with just a small clue. Thanks, Everybody! Sharlene Coontz Meyer
Sharlene, I am tied with the Coons that came into TN. I don't have any of the names you are interested in. Don't know if this will help any but you can see what I have @. http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=guyzimmerman http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~guyzimmerman/ Sharlene Meyer wrote: > My brick wall ( and believe me, I have one) is the fact that for years I searched the COONS family in Kentucky. Guy, Thanks so much for your quick reply. You have a very nice site. I found a great many COONS on the site along with other names such as Locke and Wheat but couldn't make a connection. I'll keep the file though for further reference. Again, thank you.
