Has anyone done any on-site research in Montgomery Co., specifically at the public library? Also is it better to do research at the State Archives or the Historical Society? Any opinions welcome. It depends of what your are searching for. The Mt Sterling Lib has Montgomery Co newspapers, Funeral Home records and family files and a lot of other books. http://communities.msn.com/MenifeeCountyKentuckyGenealogy AMERICAN LOCAL HISTORY NETWORK http://www.rootsweb.com/~kym http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/i/n/g/Barbara-Ingram/index.html ----- Original Message ----- From: liz peterson To: [email protected] Sent: Sunday, January 06, 2002 4:16 PM Subject: [KYMONTGO-L] On Site Research Has anyone done any on-site research in Montgomery Co., specifically at the public library? I've done on site research. Some of their materials are excellent. Don't expect a lot of help, however. The librarians do not seem to be aware of the excellent resources that they have or how to make best use of them. Some things have "walked" as a result. They have the phone number of a local genealogist. The Court House ended up being my best resource. Write to me personally at [email protected] and I will give you more details. Tell me what kinds of things you are mainly interested in. I'm from Cincinnati and have done research in Mt. Sterling on three ocassions.
