Janeen,I don't have much on the GARRETTs; except my 3ggm was Amelia {Mildred-Millie} GARRETT, d/o ROBERT GARRETT. I don't have much more than you do on Robert. You might want to contact Collin Garrett @ [email protected] or check out these pages: www.rotsquest.com/1garrett www.angelfire/in/colgarrett Hope this helps. Keep in touch Paul Hall
I believe my GGGG grandmother, Mary Ann Phillips, a widow in 1850 census of Montgomery was Mary Ann Garrett married to James Phillips. They named a son Garrett. I believe Mary Ann was daughter of Robert Garrett, Revolutionary solider from VA. that died in Montgomery Co., Ky. in 1849. He was married to Malinda/Verlinda Cox, daughter of Abraham and Elizabeth Cox from Fraquier Co., VA. I just found all this morning, so haven't verified any of it. Does anyone have these Garrett, Cox, or Phillip's in their family history? Please Reply to my new email address: [email protected] Thanks, Janeen Davis Proctor
Well, I am sending this AGAIN..... seems some of you has forgotten how to read or just deleted the first go round..... Thank you! Jeannie <>< Well guys and gals..... this is a gentle slap on the wrists for those of you who are guilty and a tid-bit to those who are not... :) :) As you can see by all of the addresses that this is going to that I have a few lists that I am the administrator for...... Now you take these lists (20 of them) and then you total up all of the folks that belong to these lists and that adds up to between 1,500 and 2,000........... When I get messages sent to me personally that says nothing except things like "I will be going on vacation for 2 weeks unsubscribe me.... or hold my mail" (as if I could) or unsubscribe me from such and such address and resub to this one....... OR... when some one wants to unsubscribe for one reason or another and they send an e-mail to the L list instead of the D list for which they are subscribed (or reversed) and they receive a notice that they were not unsubscribed as they were not subscribed... OR.... Yep, another OR ..they subscribe to a list with one e-mail address and have their mail FORWARDED and they try to unsubscribe from the list from a addy that they are NOT subscribed and they get the same notice. They send me a nasty note like the one I have cut and pasted here. UNSUBCRIBE WHAT PART OF THIS DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND???? ----- Original Message ----- I must admit that I get a bit aggravated ..... there are times that I would like to say to heck with it it is not worth the aggravation........ as I get several of these a week.... This am I have had 2 or 3 weeks supply!...... I do not have the time to go thru each and every list and try to locate which list you belong to .. in fact I have not been able to even open my login this am for this person listed above....... Please folks, I don't mind helping.... And sometimes the smart list does screw up... (that is genweb) and I don't mind helping.... But think before you yell at some one....... The instructions are sent to you when you join any list on how to unsub.... When you go to the genweb to locate a list it also tells you how to do this.... If all else fails READ the INSTRUCTIONS! :) :) :) Have a great day..... Jeannie <>< list mom

Again... just a reminder...... if for some reason your ISP has changed your address (you would be notified in advance) PLEASE.... Unsubscribe from all of the lists that you are subscribed to (do not send and e-mail to the list administrator telling them to unsub you) and unsubscribe... then re subscribe to the lists with your new address. If you don't then your post is not going to the list and other posts are not getting to you and I receive queries from you wanting to know why the list is so quiet....... :) ALSO if you have your mail forwarded from the address that you are subscribed to it will most likely BOUNCE back to the list owner... It will not go to the list..... Most of us that have these lists have at least 20 that we monitor.. which means that we read ALL the posts to each list.... Plus we receive notification of all subscribe and unsubscribes and all of the bounces... and at times it is almost over whelming.. :) :) OH yes, I forgot we also receive notice every time some one tries to spam the lists.... :( Soooooooooooo if you would just remember to unsub and then resub it sure would make life a bit nicer for those of us that sit on this end of the lists.. thanks oodles for letting me vent a bit here.... Have a great weekend, what is left of it... Jeannie <>< list mom

Genealogy Pox is VERY CONTAGIOUS Symptoms: Continual complaint as to need for names, dates and places. Patient has a blank expression, sometimes deaf to spouse and children. Has no taste for work of any kind, except feverishly looking through records at libraries and courthouses. Has a compulsion to write letters. Swears at mailman when he doesn't leave mail. Frequents strange places such as cemeteries, ruins, and remote desolate country areas. Makes secret night calls and hides phone bills from spouse. Mumbles to self. Has strange, faraway look in eyes. NO KNOWN CURE. Treatment: Medication is useless. This disease is not fatal, but gets progressively worse. Patient should attend genealogy workshops, subscribe to genealogical magazines and be given a quiet corner in the house where he or she can be alone. Remarks: The unusual nature of this disease is that the sicker the patient gets, the more he or she enjoys it. Author: Unknown.

In response to the query for the Montgomery County Tax Records, or any county's tax records for that matter: Montgomery Co, KY tax records are available through the LDS on film. I have looked at them myself last year. 1) Go to the following Web Site: http://www.familysearch.org/ --click on Library, then click on Family History Library Catalog --click on Place search --in the "place" box, enter "Montgomery", click on Search --select Kentucky, Montgomery from the list --click on Taxation from the list --click on "Tax books, 1797-1875 Montgomery County (Kentucky). Tax Assessor" --a description screen appears, click on View Film Notes (upper right) --a table appears showing that the Tax books for 1797, 1799-1812 are on film number 8168 --Tax books 1813-1827, 1829-1831 are on film number 8169 2) Go to your nearest LDS Family History Center (you do not need to be a member of the LDS chruch) --ask for a film ordering form and fill it out --it will cost about $3.75 per film; the films will arrive in about 3-4 weeks; they will stay at that center for one month at which time you may renew them for another month --use the film readers and copiers--use of the center is at no cost, but copies are moderately priced. They will assist you if you need help. Ron Grabyan E wrote: > Where would I go to find tax records of farmers living near Mt Sterling > 1805-1820?
